2022 Dunham Sauvignon Blanc This acid-driven wine hits first with a zesty lemon aroma that is surrounded by spearmint, butter and straw. Then comes the savory cherry tomato-like flavor of the goldenberry, joined by white pepper, Thai basil and Marcona almonds. The intense acidity will make your neighbor's mouth water. 2019 Marziano Abbona Barolo Ravera The 2019 Barolo Ravera is savory, floral and nicely lifted. Red cherry fruit, wildflowers, mint, crushed rocks and herbs are nicely laced together in this mid-weight offering. This delicate, understated Barolo is quite pretty, even with its youthfully austere tannins. Vinous 91 2023-01-04
2019 Marziano Abbona Barolo 'Pressenda' The 2019 Barolo Pressenda unfolds in the glass with dark red cherry, menthol, licorice, rose petal, mint, sweet spice and orange peel. Firm tannins are pretty forbidding at this stage, but that should be less of an issue with bottle age. This opens nicely with time in the glass. Vinous 92 2023-01-04
2019 Marziano Abbona Barolo DOCG 'Cerviano Merli' The 2019 Barolo Cerviano-Merli is a dark, layered wine. Black cherry, lavender, spice, menthol, licorice, cloves and gravel are some of the many notes that take shape in this dynamic, layered Barolo. Give this a few years to soften. Vinous 93 2023-01-04
2018 La Fiorita Brunello di Montalcino Mid to deep ruby. Spicy cherry fruit on the nose with an undertow of sour cherry. Lots of concentrated sour cherry with just a touch of sweet oak giving it fullness. Notably firm, but not rough, tannins. Lots of grip and juice on the finish. Can be approached now but I wouldn’t be surprised if this turns out to age well. Jancis Robinson 16.5+ 2022-12-19
2018 La Fiorita Brunello di Montalcino 'Fiore di NO' Lustrous ruby with orange tinges. Brooding, concentrated nose with sweetly spiced oak, but none of that oppressive vanilla stuff. Plenty of concentration on the palate but still compact and tightly knit with chewy tannins that make themselves felt but without overpowering the fruit. Clearly needs more time to settle and should get that. Jancis Robinson 17 2022-12-19
2021 Col Vetoraz Valdobbiadene Prosecco Brut Brilliant silver grey. Subtle citrus fruit on the nose, some grapefruit, white rose petal echo. Full of fruit expression on the palate and very well-integrated mousse, creamy and juicy, clear and fruity on the finish. Falstaff 92 2022-12-19
2021 Col Vetoraz Valdobbiadene Prosecco Brut The 2021 Brut is more savory than sweet, with dusty yellow florals and crushed rocks giving way to nuances of peach skins. This cascades across the palate with a chiseled bead of fine bubbles, mixing salty minerals with ripe orchard fruits. It leaves the senses wholly refreshed and clean, as residual acids keep the mouth watering for more. Vinous 90 2022-12-14
2021 Marziano Abbona Dogliani San Luigi The 2021 Dogliani San Luigi offers up a beguiling mix of dark red/black fruits, grilled herbs, new leather, licorice, incense, tobacco and scorched earth. This brooding, savory Dogliani packs quite the punch. There is a bit of rusticity in the flavors and tannins, but nothing that can't be handled by pairing this with similarly hearty fare. 2020 Marziano Abbona Nebbiolo d'Alba Bricco Barone The 2020 Nebbiolo d'Alba Bricco Barone is laced with macerated cherry, spice, tobacco, incense, licorice and dried herbs. Readers will find a pretty potent, deep Nebbiolo d'Alba with more than enough structure to drink well for at least a handful of years. The 2020 is maybe just a touch rustic in its tannins, but nevertheless overdelivers big time. Quite simply, this puts a number of Barolos and Barbarescos to shame. Vinous 92 2022-12-12
