Donati |
Cabernet Sauvignon Paso Robles |
A lovely meaty cabernet sauvignon showing some cocoa powder to the blackberries and tobacco, with a splash of graphite and roasted red chili pepper. Lots of ultra-ripe and powdery tannins that give it a powerful yet hedonistic sensibility. Hints of iron in the finish. Just short of some crunch. 99.9% cabernet sauvignon and 0.1% petite sirah. Drink or hold. |

Chateauneuf-du-Pape 'Les Sables de la Crau' |
Lastly, the 2020 Châteauneuf Du Pape Les Sables De La Crau is all Grenache from pure sand soils that was brought up in demi-muids. It's one of the bigger wines in the lineup, yet still shows an incredible sense of purity and elegance. Ripe raspberries, kirsch liqueur, ground herbs, pepper, dried flowers, and loamy earth all define the nose, and it's full-bodied, with a layered, opulent mouthfeel, silky tannins, and a great finish. It's beautifully done and just screams of Grenache. It will evolve gracefully for 15 years. |
