2018 Jorge Ordóñez Verdejo 'Nisia Las Suertes' Bold but focused, this solid white has good density. The plush texture carries ripe pear and melon flavors, backed by fresh herbs and a chalky note. Firm acidity gives way to a vanilla-scented finish. Drink now through 2023. 1,000 cases made, 500 cases imported. Wine Spectator 91 2021-03-11
2018 Domaine du Moulin Gaillac 'Cuvee Florentin' Based on Braucol, the deep purple-hued 2018 Gaillac Florentin has a complex violet and floral-tinged bouquet with plenty of earthy black and blue fruits, some subtle herbal, underbrush notes, medium to full body, and a beautiful, layered, seamless texture on the palate. The purity is terrific, and it's the finest vintage of this cuvée I've tasted. Jeb Dunnuck 92 2021-03-10
2018 Domaine du Moulin Cotes du Tarn 'Cinto' The flagship of the estate, the 2018 Gaillac L'Aigle Cinto is usually a mix of Tannat, Syrah, and Braucol brought up in barrel. A bigger, richer wine, it has a big nose of chocolatey dark currants, cured meats, licorice, violets, and spice. Full-bodied, concentrated, and opulent on the palate, it's a monster of a wine, with moderate acidity, an expansive texture, ripe, chewy tannins, and a big finish. It pushes on the ripeness scale yet holds it together, gaining freshness and purity with time in the glass. It should evolve nicely for another decade, but there's no need to delay gratification. Give it a decant if drinking any time soon. Jeb Dunnuck 92+ 2021-03-10
2018 Two Hands Shiraz 'Gnarly Dudes' Barossa Valley Juicy and appealing, offering a fresh mix of blueberry, cherry and framboise flavors on a smooth, velvety and spicy frame. Matcha green tea and Szechuan peppercorn details linger. Drink now through 2032. Wine Spectator 91 2021-03-09
2018 Paritua Syrah A fluid, supple style that is richly aromatic. It is full-bodied but retains a sense of elegance – Hawke's Bay remains a relatively cool place to grow Syrah. The aromas are spicy, with green peppercorns, agave, and blackberries. There's a gush of mouthwatering acidity and the tannins coat the mouth with the texture of melted chocolate on the supple, medium-long, spicy finish. Very satisfying already but has enough intensity and the structural components to continue to evolve over the medium term. Vinous 91 2021-03-03
2018 Paritua Red Blend A very classy, Bordeaux-inspired blend. The component parts are 58% Merlot, 26% Cabernet Sauvignon and 16% Cabernet Franc. The combination of low yields (one bunch per cane), the richer soils of the Bridge Pa area (versus neighboring Gimblett Gravels), and attention to detail in the winery have provided a sumptuously textured, full-bodied expression. It offers a high level of fruit concentration, excellent integration of oak (18 months) and good complexity. There's an array of flavors from classic plum, florals, chocolate, cedar, coffee and the merest hint of dill on the lengthy finish. The tannins are satisfying and embrace the mouth. As well as having a delicious glass of wine, you can also burn some of the calories you're drinking by just picking up the heavy bottle and pouring it. While this has the intensity and structure for the medium to long term, the texture is such that you could enjoy it in youth too. Vinous 95 2021-03-03
2018 Decibel Malbec 'Testify' Gimblett Gravels While there's plenty of silken texture here, verging on opulence, this retains a sense of elegance and effortlessness. Expect flavors reminiscent of damson skin, violets, orange peel, cinnamon and clove, giving a rather festive impression. The finish is satisfying, with juicy acidity cleansing the palate. Super-fine tannins provide a very fine veil for the palate. Only seven barrels of this wine were made. Vinous 93 2021-03-03
2018 Morgan Pinot Noir 'Twelve Clones' Santa Lucia Highlands Coming from a mix of clones, the light ruby-hued 2018 Pinot Noir Twelve Clones gives up a pretty nose of framboise and strawberries as well as lots of floral, rose petal, sappy herb, and minty aromas and flavors. It's another lightly textured, medium-bodied, elegant wine from this estate to enjoy over the coming 4-6 years. Jeb Dunnuck 92 2021-03-03
2017 Domaine Yves Cheron Gigondas 'Cuvee Jurassique' A blend of 75% Grenache and 25% Syrah, Cheron's 2017 Gigondas Jurassique offers up notes of allspice, clove and red plum on the nose. It's full-bodied and silky on the palate, with a long, mouthwatering finish and a peppery edge. Wine Advocate 91 2021-03-03
2018 Domaine Jean Royer Chateauneuf-du-Pape 'Prestige' Deep vivid red. Potent, mineral-laced red berry and cherry preserve, spicecake and floral aromas are complicated by suggestions of dusty minerals and licorice. Chewy, sharply focused black raspberry and bitter cherry flavors become sweeter with air while picking up a sexy floral pastille nuance. Shows impressive energy and spicy cut on the sweet, floral-tinged, strikingly long finish, which is framed by slow-building tannins. Vinous 93-95 2021-03-03
