2018	Decibel	Malbec 'Testify' Gimblett Gravels	While there's plenty of silken texture here, verging on opulence, this retains a sense of elegance and effortlessness. Expect flavors reminiscent of damson skin, violets, orange peel, cinnamon and clove, giving a rather festive impression. The finish is satisfying, with juicy acidity cleansing the palate. 2018	Morgan	Pinot Noir 'Twelve Clones' Santa Lucia Highlands	Coming from a mix of clones, the light ruby-hued 2018 Pinot Noir Twelve Clones gives up a pretty nose of framboise and strawberries as well as lots of floral, rose petal, sappy herb, and minty aromas and flavors. 2017	Domaine Yves Cheron	Gigondas 'Cuvee Jurassique'	A blend of 75% Grenache and 25% Syrah, Cheron's 2017 Gigondas Jurassique offers up notes of allspice, clove and red plum on the nose. 2018	Domaine Jean Royer	Chateauneuf-du-Pape 'Prestige'	Deep vivid red. Potent, mineral-laced red berry and cherry preserve, spicecake and floral aromas are complicated by suggestions of dusty minerals and licorice. Chewy, sharply focused black raspberry and bitter cherry flavors become sweeter with air while picking up a sexy floral pastille nuance. 2018	Domaine Jean Royer	Chateauneuf-du-Pape 'Tradition'	Shimmering ruby-red. Intensely perfumed black raspberry, Asian spice and floral pastille aromas are complemented by hints of rhubarb and incense. Palate-staining, densely packed red and blue fruit and spicecake flavors show impressive power as well as litheness thanks to a core of juicy acidity. NV	Ballotin	Caramel Turtle Chocolate Whiskey	Amber color. Aromas of waffle crisp, milk and honey, French toast, and fresh baked cookies with a satiny, vibrant, sweet medium body and a silky, compelling, medium-length real maple syrup finish. 2017	Mannucci Droandi	Chianti Classico 'Ceppeto'	Currants and mixed berries on the nose with notes of purple flowers and earth. Medium-bodied with quite firm tannins and a clean bead of interlaced blackcurrant and oak. From organically grown grapes. Nicely done, but needs a bit more time to gain depth on the center palate. 2014	Luigi Tecce	Taurasi Riserva ‘Poliphemo Vecchie Vigne'	The 2014 Taurasi Riserva Poliphemo Vecchie Vigne is a gorgeous expression of Taurasi, making use of the cool 2014 vintage to create an understated yet alluring display, showing dark fruits, offset by floral tones, as hints of smoke and animal musk evolve in the glass. On the palate, silky textures give way to notes of blackberry and tart cherry with a hint of savory herbs, as grippy tannins slowly saturate the senses. The finish is long and classically structured, slowly tapering off to reveal a mineral coating with a lasting twang of tart berries, which seems to last for over a minute. 2017	I Custodi	Etna Bianco 'Ante'	Alberello-trained vines growing at nearly 3,000 feet on Etna’s wind-lashed eastern slope produced this tautly structured wine, with dense flavors of preserved lemon, tarragon and toasted hazelnuts. The wine fermented on ambient yeasts without undergoing malolactic conversion, leaving searing acidity that cuts through its oxidative notes and keeps the wine lively and tense.
