2016 Keenan Cabernet Sauvignon 'Reserve' Spring Mountain District The 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve is dense, powerful and incredibly inviting. The 2016 brings together dense, unctuous fruit and terrific freshness. A classically built medium-bodied wine of the style that are seldom found in Napa Valley today. Hints of sage, lavender, espresso and menthol add aromatic intrigue, but it is the wine's balance and sense of proportion that I find most alluring today. This is a fabulous showing from Robert Keenan. Vinous 96 2021-04-08
2016 Keenan Cabernet Sauvignon 'Reserve' Spring Mountain District This is equal parts merlot and cabernet sauvignon and has a very attractive array of ripe dark plums, mulberries and blackberries with earth and chocolate notes. The palate is very long, plush and has a clever fusion of power with elegance. As is the way with all Keenan 2016s, the oak is dialed-up high and needs time to settle. Try this from 2022. 2018 Keuka Spring Vidal Blanc Ice Wine Pure aromas of lemonade, pineapple and honey-drizzled peach carry to the luscious, sweet palate. This is full in feel, utterly fruity and concentrated, yet balanced by wel-poised acidity. Wine Enthusiast 92 2021-04-07
2018 Keuka Spring Vidal Blanc Ice Wine The 2018 Vidal Blanc Ice Wine was frozen on the vine, meaning the grapes are really from the 2017 harvest, but picked January 3, 2018, so it carries the 2018 vintage designation. It comes in with 220 grams of residual sugar and 9% alcohol. Kind of sensational, this is utterly delicious, but more than that, it is gorgeously balanced. Long, fresh and clean, this does everything well. Did I mention that it really tastes great too? This should age beautifully, acquiring more complexity as it goes along. It's not cheap, but making ice wine is expensive, and the price is fair for a wine that may last for decades. It might improve along the way too. There were 230 cases of half bottles produced. 2020 Cuarto Dominio Malbec 'Lote 44' Notes of blackberry, plum and some lavender. Lightly chocolatey. Medium-bodied with creamy tannins. Juicy with a creamy feel on the mouth. Flavorful finish. Nice drinkability already. Easy and fine. Drink now. James Suckling 90 2021-04-07
2019 Jean-Marc Burgaud Morgon Grands Cras Very deep and complex, spicy and earthy nose, exerting a great gravitational pull that sucks you into this black hole of Beaujolais minerality. Stunning concentration, but still graceful, thanks to the super fine tannins and very elegant acidity that carry the staggeringly long finish. Drink or hold. James Suckling 96 2021-04-06
2019 Jean-Marc Burgaud Beaujolais Villages Blanc A very complex chardonnay for Beaujolais, the fresh herbal notes beautifully integrated with yeasty notes and flinty character. Then, on the palate a wonderful balance of creaminess and lemony crispness, but all this doesn’t prepare you for the brilliant minerality at the extremely refreshing finish. Drink or hold. 2019 Domaine Vauroux Chablis 1er Cru Montmains Aromas of apricot stone, green pear, blanched almond and slate. It’s medium-bodied with bright acidity and concentrated, fleshy layers of stone and citrus fruit. Creamy and smooth finish. Very typical and well done. Drink or hold. James Suckling 93 2021-04-06
2019 Domaine Vauroux Chablis 'Vieilles Vignes' Aromas of dried apple, apricot, stone, lemon zest and curd. It’s medium-bodied with tangy acidity and a bright, flavorful finish. Drink or hold. James Suckling 92 2021-04-06
2019 Jean-Marc Burgaud Morgon Cote du Py 'Javernieres' Slightly funky and very earthy, this is quite a radical and austere expression of Beaujolais. Tightly wound and pretty tannic, it needs some time for the violet and sour-cherry character to open up. Drink or hold. James Suckling 92 2021-04-06
