NV RE:FIND Distillery Vodka Finished in Barrel The base is distilled from red wine grapes, and the vodka is then barrel-aged. The end result is an experimental bottling that looks, smells and tastes like a young Bourbon. It's oak-forward at first sip, but finishes round and luscious, with plenty of caramel and cinnamon-clove sparks. Slip it into a blind tasting alongside traditional whiskey and watch Bourbon-lovers lose their minds. Newly released June 2016. Wine Enthusiast 91 2021-05-12
2015 Nicodemi Montepulciano d'Abruzzo Colline Teramane Riserva 'Neromoro' Fully saturated inky ruby. Aroma and flavors of concentrated red and black fruits, spicy oak, Oriental spices and graphite. This strikes me as being rather well-balanced for such a big wine. Finishes long with noteworthy grace and elegance. Vinous 91 2021-05-12
2019 Decibel Chardonnay Hawke's Bay 'Testify' This is the second vintage of the Testify Chardonnay. Having gone big on high solids and new oak in 2019, which led to a very reductive, stylistic interpretation of Chardonnay, Daniel Brennan has pulled back. This is a more subtle expression, focusing more on texture and restraint, and it's all the better for it. There's savory nougat-like character from French oak fermentation, a creamy lick from malo, and restrained nectarine fruit. A site within spitting distance of the waters of the Pacific delivers a flush of acidity that courses through the center of the wine, leaving the palate refreshed. Vinous 91 2021-05-11
2018 Decibel Pinot Noir Martinborough 'Testify' While there's plenty of silken texture here, verging on opulence, this retains a sense of elegance and effortlessness. Expect flavors reminiscent of damson skin, violets, orange peel, cinnamon and clove, giving a rather festive impression. The finish is satisfying, with juicy acidity cleansing the palate. Super-fine tannins provide a very fine veil for the palate. Only seven barrels of this wine were made. Vinous 93 2021-05-11
