2019 Jean-Marc Burgaud Morgon Cote du Py 'Javernieres' Slightly funky and very earthy, this is quite a radical and austere expression of Beaujolais. Tightly wound and pretty tannic, it needs some time for the violet and sour-cherry character to open up. Drink or hold. James Suckling 92 2021-04-06
2019 Jean-Marc Burgaud Beaujolais 'Les Vignes de Lantignie' Lovely forest-berry and black-cherry aromas gently introduce you to this medium-bodied beauty that has just enough tannin to be gently warming and properly dry. Very good minerality, spice and length. A good argument for giving Lantignié Beaujolais Cru status. Drink or hold. James Suckling 91 2021-04-06
2019 Domaine Vigneau-Chevreau Vouvray Sec 'Cuvée Silex' A taut, focused dry style that's organically grown and hand-harvested. Hailing from silex soil, as the cuvée name makes clear, the 2019 Cuvée Silex is a compact and precise offering with laser-like, citrus-driven acidity. There's crisp apple fruit and white flowers on the nose, but this wine is all about the terroir-driven structure. It is uncompromising and sure of itself. Vinous 92 2021-03-31
2016 La Fiorita Brunello di Montalcino Lustrous ruby. Deep marasca cherry and cherry-liqueur nose with touches of sweet spice. Intense and concentrated sweet-sour cherry fruit with supple acidity. Quite rich and sweet yet balanced, if a tiny bit hot on the finish. Jancis Robinson 16 2021-03-31
2016 La Fiorita Brunello di Montalcino 'Fiore di NO' Lustrous ruby. Sweetly concentrated nose with notes of cherry liqueur and a hint of oak. Intense and very sweet and youthful with enormous fruit power and firm tannins. Rich and boisterous and not to be approached for quite some time. Jancis Robinson 16 2021-03-31
2019 Barra Chardonnay Mendocino Very smooth and mouthfilling, this lushly textured wine made from organic grapes is packed with buttered popcorn and baking-spice aromas and piles of poached pears on baked apple flavors. For all that richness it doesn't overdo the oak aspects, and comes out nicely balanced on the finish. Wine Enthusiast 90 2021-03-31
2009 Mas d'En Gil Clos Fontà Vinyes Velles' (40% garnacha peluda, 30% garnacha and 30% carinena): Inky ruby. Sexy blackberry, cola and floral pastille aromas display very good energy and pick up a mineral nuance with air. Round and fleshy on the palate, offering gently sweet dark berry and spicecake flavors lifted by a mineral element. At once rich and lively, showing a silky texture and excellent depth. Leaves an exotic candied lavender quality behind on the strikingly long, penetrating, gently tannic finish, which shows no rough edges. Vinous 94 2021-03-30
2009 Mas d'En Gil Coma Vella' (40% garnacha peluda, 25% garnacha, 20% carinena and 15% syrah): Deep ruby. Aromas of dried cherry, cassis, violet and peppery spices, with a bright mineral quality adding lift and focus. Ripe and broad on entry, then fresh and lively in the mid-palate, offering intense dark fruit flavors complicated by white pepper and a touch of candied flowers. Finishes smooth, sweet and very long, with sneaky tannins and a touch of smokiness. Vinous 92 2021-03-30
2008 Mas d'En Gil Clos Fontà Vinyes Velles' (40% garnacha peluda, 30% garnacha pais and 30% carinena): Opaque ruby. An expansive, heady bouquet displays scents of candied dark berries, licorice, violet pastille, woodsmoke and minerals; smells like a wine from the northern Rhone. Sweet, penetrating and seamless on the palate, offering vibrant blackberry and cherry-cola flavors and suggestions of bitter chocolate and candied licorice. Finishes smooth and long, with resonating spiciness and supple, even tannins. Vinous 92 2021-03-30
2008 Mas d'En Gil Coma Vella' (60% garnacha, 25% carinena and 15% syrah): Vivid ruby. Redcurrant and cherry on the fragrant mineral- and herb-accented nose. Taut and focused, offering mineral-tinged red fruit flavors and a hint of licorice. Closes with firm cut and very good tangy persistence. No excess fat here but no shortage of flavor intensity either. Vinous 91 2021-03-30
