2011 Domaine Alain Voge Saint-Peray Les Bulles d’Alain The 2011 Saint Peray les Bulles d'Alain was the last vintage to be made with a dosage—a minimal two grams per liter. This bottle was disgorged in May 2016. Richer and rounder than the 2016 tasted alongside, it offers pear, melon and citrus notes, a round, ample mouthfeel and a gentle, creamy finish. Drink up. 2019 Domaine Alain Voge Cornas Chapelle Saint-Pierre Compared to the Vieilles Fontaines, Voge's 2019 Cornas Chapelle Saint Pierre is slightly less impressive, although it offers more freshness and redder fruit. Hints of mint, violets and red plums mark the nose, while the medium to full-bodied palate is silky and moderately concentrated. From a younger parcel planted atop the appellation and matured 20 months in only older barrels, this wine offers fine balance and drinkability but remains less profound than the Vielles Fontaines. 2020 Domaine Alain Voge Saint Joseph Les Cotes Voge's 2020 Saint Joseph Les Cotes—from a parcel in Mauves—came across as slightly exotic in the blind-tasting lineup, with hints of violets, licorice and stone fruit. Maturing in older barriques, it's medium to full-bodied and supple on the palate, with an attractive softness that lingers on the finish. Wine Advocate 90-92 2022-01-25
2020 Domaine Alain Voge Saint-Peray Fleur de Crussol The 2020 Saint Peray Fleur de Crussol—from 80-year-old Marsanne vines—is more typical Saint-Péray than the Ongrie bottling, offering up more subdued pear and melon aromas. Vinified and matured in a similar mix of 228-liter and 400-liter barrels (30% new), it's medium to full-bodied, ripe and round, charming and easy to drink, with a splash of lime on the long finish. 2020 Domaine Alain Voge Cornas Les Vieilles Vignes The sample presented of Voge's 2020 Cornas Vieilles Vignes was reassuringly excellent, with gently lifted, floral scents of violets, cassis and crushed stone. Full-bodied, deep and powerful, concentrated and rich but still almost painfully unformed, this needs time in the cellar. It's a blend of several parcels, aged in barrel but with just 15% or so new oak. Wine Advocate 93-95 2022-01-25
2019 Domaine Alain Voge Cornas Les Vieilles Fontaines Salted licorice and crème de cassis mark the nose of the 2019 Cornas Vieilles Fontaines, another clear step up in the hierarchy of bottlings at Alain Voge. Produced from 80-year-old vines situated near a spring, which virtually prevents the vines from shutting down even during hot, dry years, the wine ages two years in 15% to 20% new French oak. Full-bodied, concentrated and rich, tannic but supple and loaded with aging potential, this is an extraordinary Cornas. Wine Advocate 95-98 2022-01-25
