2017 La Fiorita Brunello di Montalcino Solid fruit for the vintage with berry, cherry, stone and orange-peel aromas and flavors. Medium to full body, firm tannins and a fresh, juicy finish. Drinkable now, but better in 2023. James Suckling 92 2021-11-08
2016 Verbena Brunello di Montalcino Riserva Dark-berry and ripe-cherry aromas with some spice and hazelnut, following through to a medium to full body with round tannins and a delicious finish. Round texture with dusty tannins. Savory and delicious at the end. Give it two or three years to come around. James Suckling 94 2021-11-08
2017 Verbena Brunello di Montalcino 'Le Pope' A soft-textured and rather refined Brunello for the vintage, with full body and plenty of cherry and berry aromas and flavors that come together with underlying freshness and citrusy acidity. Delicious now. James Suckling 93 2021-11-08
2019 Beauchene Chateauneuf-du-Pape 'Vignobles de la Serriere' Lots of spice, peppery garrigue and assorted red and black fruits emerge from the 2019 Châteauneuf Du Pape Vignobles De La Serrière, a classy, nicely balanced, medium-bodied Châteauneuf du Pape with lots of character. Jeb Dunnuck 90 2021-11-05
2020 Domaine du Pegau Chateauneuf-du-Pape 'Cuvee Reserve' The 2020 Châteauneuf Du Pape Cuvée Réservée shows the fresher, more elegant style of the vintage and is certainly a classic Pégau. Lots of red, blue, and black fruits, notes of ground pepper and violets, firm tannins, and good acidity all define this outstanding 2020 barrel sample. Jeb Dunnuck 92-94 2021-11-05
2019 Domaine du Pegau Chateauneuf-du-Pape 'Cuvee Reserve' The 2019 Châteauneuf Du Pape Cuvée Réservée was hard to read and incredibly reductive, which is a trait I’ve never seen from this estate. Black fruits, licorice, and roasted garrigue are all present in this medium to full-bodied, structured, tannic, firm wine. It’s a head scratcher, but hopefully I’ll be able to taste this again next year before it’s released. Given the quality of the vintage, it should be better than this showing. 2018 Domaine du Pegau Chateauneuf-du-Pape 'Cuvee Reserve' The 2018 Châteauneuf Du Pape Cuvée Réservée is a total charmer and already impossible to resist. Lots of red and black fruits, ground pepper, saddle leather, and spicy, floral notes define the nose, and it’s medium to full-bodied, with a lush, round mouthfeel, beautiful elegance, and outstanding length. It doesn’t have the concentration or depth of a truly great Pégau, but it’s one heck of a great drink today. Enjoy bottles over the coming 10-15 years or so. Jeb Dunnuck 91 2021-11-05
2020 Domaine Jean Royer Chateauneuf-du-Pape 'Tradition' Starting with the 2020 Châteauneuf Du Pape, this up-front, sweetly fruited, sexy beauty offers a vivid ruby/purple hue as well as loads of mulberry and strawberry fruits, notes of peppery garrigue and violets, medium to full body, ripe yet present tannins, wonderful purity, and a great finish. Jeb Dunnuck 91-93 2021-11-05
2019 Domaine Jean Royer Chateauneuf-du-Pape 'Tradition' Lots of ripe black cherries, peppery garrigue, black olive, and a subtle iodine and marine-like nuance emerge from the 2019 Châteauneuf Du Pape, a big, ripe, incredibly sexy classic cuvée that has full-bodied richness and no hard edges. It's for the Grenache lovers out there. Jeb Dunnuck 92 2021-11-05
2020 Domaine Jean Royer Chateauneuf-du-Pape 'Prestige' More kirsch, blackberries, ground pepper, new leather, and assorted spicy notes all emerge from the 2020 Châteauneuf Du Pape Prestige, which is, as always, all Grenache. It's a touch richer and sexier than the classic cuvée, with perhaps a touch more mid-palate. Both wines are beautiful. Jeb Dunnuck 92-94 2021-11-05
