2019 Domaine Jean Royer Chateauneuf-du-Pape 'Tradition' Rouge Royer's 2019 Chateauneuf du Pape is a beautiful blend of 85% Grenache, with 5% each Cinsault, Mourvèdre and Syrah. Resiny, herbal notes of rosemary and pine join red raspberries and cherries upon the nose, while the palate is full-bodied, creamy and lush. Supple but concentrated, this strong, almost entirely tank-aged effort finishes long, with ample intensity. Wine Advocate 93 2022-05-06
2019 Domaine Jean Royer Chateauneuf-du-Pape 'Prestige' A blend of 80% Grenache and 20% Mourvèdre from a classic galets roulés terroir (le Bois de la Ville), Royer's 2019 Chateauneuf du Pape Cuvee Prestige matured in older demi-muids, but it still shows hints of clove, cedar and mocha. It also easily marries resiny, herbal notes with black cherries and blackberries, making for plenty of complexity. Full-bodied, rich and concentrated, it finishes long, with a velvety feel and ample tannins. I'd give it a few years in bottle, then drink it over the following decade. Tasted blind, I didn't detect any alcoholic heat, although I note that the submission materials state that it's 16.6% alcohol. Wine Advocate 94+ 2022-05-06
2019 Domaine Jean Royer Chateauneuf-du-Pape ‘Les Sables de la Crau’ A 100% Grenache cuvée emerging from a sandy sector of La Crau, Royer's 2019 Chateauneuf du Pape Cuvee les Sables de la Crau features wonderfully pure aromas of red raspberries, accented by hints of vanilla. It's full-bodied and concentrated, boasting remarkable freshness on the palate, finishing long but also dusty and tannic, with plenty of cellaring potential. Wine Advocate 94+ 2022-05-06
2020 Barra Chardonnay Mendocino This creamy, luxurious wine made from organic grapes smells buttery and tastes like ripe pineapple and honey. 2018 Dunham Cabernet Sauvignon 'XXIV' Columbia Valley The aromas of wheat, black cherry, blackberry, baking spice and melted butter are subdued but show complexity. Cherry and chocolate flavors follow. Many wines on this vintage are brawny. This one has depth and sophistication too. Wine Enthusiast 91 2022-05-03
2019 Dunham Red Blend 'Trutina' Columbia Valley This is mostly 48% Merlot with 43% Cabernet Sauvignon, with the rest bits of 8% Merlot and 1% Petit Verdot. The aromas immediately grab the attention, with notes of black cherry, sautéed herb, licorice and plentiful baking spices. The flavors are reserved and fresh. Fruit and barrel play well off each other, with plenty of structure around it all. Editors’ Choice. Wine Enthusiast 90 2022-05-03
2018 Pursued by Bear Syrah 'Baby Bear' Columbia Valley Fruit and barrel intertwine on the aromas, with notes of char, roasted coffee bean, vanilla and dark fruit. The palate is creamy in feel, showing intensity and sophistication. Baking spice notes linger on the finish. Oak plays a prominent part but plays it well. Wine Enthusiast 92 2022-05-03
2018 Carol Shelton Zinfandel 'Rocky Reserve' Dry Creek Valley From a high-elevation site and blended with 12% Petite Sirah and 2% Carignan, this wine is supple in tannin and sweet in oak, with layers of blueberry and blackberry, dried herbs and a finishing touch of chocolate. NV Lindemans Peche Sweet peach ring candy aroma appears first and is given depth from a more earthy, yet still candied peach flavor. Funky yeast adds a floral character to the beer with a nutty malt lightly perceivable in the background. Finishes sweet, but not cloying, inviting another sip. Wine Enthusiast 92 2022-05-03
NV Lindemans Kriek Visually vibrant dusty purple with a thin head that laces the glass, this kriek is a lovely combination of tart black cherry and sweet red cherry candy. Lively carbonation keeps the fruit dancing on the tongue. Slight yeast funk adds umami to the glass before finishing dry. Wine Enthusiast 91 2022-05-03
