2018	Boutinot	Seguret Cotes du Rhone Villages 'Les Coteaux Schisteux'	This manages simultaneously to combine rich and mellow character (thanks to a touch of bottle-aged character) with a lively and enticing feel on the palate. A wide spectrum of aromas, from red berries to licorice via candied orange. Very good balance of full body, ripe tannins and a hint of minerality at the long, rather smooth finish. Drink or hold. 2019	Boutinot	Cairanne Cotes du Rhone Villages 'La Cote Sauvage'	A good introduction to the generous and powerful but bright and cool wines of this up-and-coming appellation. There’s so much herbal freshness and roasted-fennel character in the ample body. Quite long and lively finish. Could certainly spend a few more years in the bottle. Vegan. Drink or hold. 2020	Boutinot	Cotes du Rhone Villages 'Les Coteaux'	It would be hard to find a better introduction to the Southern Rhone than this generous but focused Cotes-du-Rhone Villages with its fresh black-fruit character. Super balance of fine tannins and ripe fruit with lively acidity makes this very easy to enjoy. Pronounced licorice note at the long, very straight and harmonious finish. 2019	Dunham	Red Blend 'Trutina' Columbia Valley	A plummy and inviting nose with notes of jasmine tea, redcurrant and red licorice. Medium-to full-bodied with gentle tannins. It is elegant and evokes refined brooding (if that's even a thing). Pure and detailed, with acidity that positively blooms on the perfumed finish, while savory, detailed tannins provide gentle grip. 2019	Decibel	Pinot Noir Martinborough	The dry-farmed, organic 2019 Pinot Noir, from the Martinborough region, is brooding, round and shapely, with mouthwatering acidity. A high level of concentration suggests low yields, while the plentiful color and tannic density point to small berries. A young and intense yet shapely wine with tannins akin to licking a stone. The cinnamon and nutmeg spices of oak barrel maturation integrate with the brooding fruit, which is reminiscent of black cherries, violets and dried herbs. This is a wine whose underlying power and substance can't be ignored. It could be approached now with a hunk of lamb, but I'm more keen to see it in 6–10 years' time.	Vinous	93		2022-04-12
