Montepulciano d'Abruzzo Colline Teramane Riserva 'Neromoro' |
Deep ruby with a purple hue, the 2017 Colline Teramane Montepulciano d'Abruzzo Riserva Neromoro opens with a mentholated herbal freshness followed by cedar shavings, balsamic spices and dusty black currants. This floods the palate with silken textures, verging on velvet, with a core of ripe red and black fruits propelled by brisk acidity, as edgy tannins add grip toward the close. This tapers off with outstanding length and potent concentration yet is lightly structured, leaving a spicy sensation and hints of licorice that fade slowly. The Neromoro hails from pergola-trained vines planted in 1970. It's refined in 40% new French barriques. The next vintage produced will be the 2020, as Nicodemi only makes the wines in years that they believe are superior. |
