Coma Vella' |
The red blend 2015 Coma Vella is a blend of 70% Garnacha Peluda and Garnacha del País, 20% Cariñena and 10% Syrah from vines planted between 1965 and 1998 on classical sloped llicorella slate soils except the Syrah, which is on limestone soils. They used 10% to 20% full clusters for the fermentation in stainless steel and oak vats with indigenous yeasts. It matured for one year in a combination of 225-liter barrels and 1,500- and 3,000-liter oak vats with only 15% to 20% new oak. The wine shows contained ripeness, showcasing the style of the south of Priorat, and it's spicy and a little earthy. It has a medium to full-bodied palate and some dusty tannins without the finesse of the newest reds. 35,658 bottles produced. It was bottled in May 2016. |

Nus' Vi Dolc Natural |
The 2015 Nus is an unusual sweet red wine that smells of sweet spices and Christmas cake, a blend of 80% Garnacha, 15% Syrah and 5% Viognier that wants to go back to the traditional sweets from the zone but giving it more acidity and freshness. The process is quite complex, as the Garnacha is harvested early (in August) and the bunches let to dehydrate under the sun, so it keeps high acidity; when the grapes reach enough concentration, they are destemmed, foot trodden and fermented with indigenous yeasts. In parallel, they also produce a "mistela," fortified grape juice, of Syrah and Viognier, and the blend matures in 60-liter French oak barrels for 18 months. The wine is 16.5% alcohol and has 130 grams of unfermented sugar but doesn't come through as too sweet and is nicely balanced with flavors of those sweet spices and Christmas cake and a long, lingering finish. 1,968 half-bottles were filled in March 2018. |

Maranges Premier Cru La Fuissière |
Roasted notes of mocha almost have a minty edge on the nose of this wine before a mix of forest berry radiates fruitiness. The palate comes in with freshness, slightly brushing tannins and a sense of that rounded, fresh forest fruit. On the finish, it's slightly drying but fresh. |

Bolgheri 'Guado de' Gemoli' |
The 2013 Bolgheri Superiore Guado de' Gemoli is a plush and rich red wine with bold and opulent tones of red fruit, spice and scorched earth. The results are balanced and ripe. There is a tight bite of tannins on the close that bode well for the wine's future evolution. This blend of 80% Cabernet Sauvignon and 20% Merlot needs time to integrate with further bottle aging. Some 10,000 bottles are produced. |

Le Cadeau |
Pinot Noir ‘Equinoxe’ Chehalem Mountains |
Vivid red. Ripe red and blue fruits, candied rose, vanilla and a hint of five-spice powder on the deeply perfumed nose. Juicy acidity provides lift and structure to concentrated black raspberry, boysenberry and cola flavors that open up slowly and become spicier on the back half. Delivers power as well as finesse and finishes impressively long and sweet, showing resonating red fruit character and smooth, harmonious tannins. |

Bolgheri 'Felciaino' |
A nice choice for grilled porcini, the Giovanni Chiappini 2018 Bolgheri Rosso Felciaino is a blend of certified organic Cabernet Sauvignon (50%) with Merlot (40%) and a smaller part Sangiovese. This is a balanced expression that delivers nicely ripened fruit, not too heavy and not too light. This is the estate's entry-level red blend, but the care and balance of the winemaking is evident. Blackberry and maraschino cherry yield to smoked cedar and tilled earth. There is a touch of rosemary sprig on the close. Some 25,000 bottles were made, and you get great value. |
