NV Samuel Smith Nut Brown Internationally known, this English brown ale lives up to the reputation in the glass that proceeds it. Slightly sweet, light on the roast with whiffs of coffee and toasted hazelnut, a red berry fruitiness, and light brown sugar on the finish. Medium bodied with rounded carbonation, this is a contemplation pint, one to let unfold over the course of a proper pub session. Wine Enthusiast 94 2022-02-21

2019 Domaine Alain Voge Cornas Les Vieilles Vignes The 2019 Cornas Les Vieilles Vignes is similarly inky colored and has a classic nose of plums, Asian spices, sandalwood, and iron. Medium to full-bodied, with good acidity and ripe tannins, it doesn't have the sheer weight, richness, or girth of the Vieilles Fontaines, yet it's certainly a more classic Cornas that will be approachable with just 3-4 years of bottle age yet evolve for twenty years if you're so inclined. 2019 Domaine Alain Voge Saint-Peray Fleur de Crussol Rocking honeyed pineapple, caramelized peach, spice, and brioche notes all emerge from the 2019 Saint-Péray Fleur De Crussol, a rich, medium to full-bodied, concentrated Saint-Péray that develops more salinity and minerality with time in the glass. I love its overall balance, and while it's drinking great today, it has a solid decade of prime drinking ahead of it. First created in 1999 as a collaboration with sommelier Daniel Denis (of Lyon), it comes from 80-year-old vines planted in limestone soils and is aged in a mix of 228- and 400-liter barrels, 30% of which are new.
