2020 Domaine Durand Sancerre Perfumed and with a touch of spice, this rich wine brings out a tropical side of Sauvignon Blanc. Pepper and a textured edge add essential contrast. The wine is young, so a few more months would be good. Drink from 2022. Buy Now. Wine Enthusiast 92 2022-04-13
2019 Decibel Pinot Noir Martinborough 'Testify' The 2019 Pinot Noir Testify is a silken, sensual wine with plum fruit, spices and floral notes. It is elegant and evokes refined brooding (if that's even a thing). Pure and detailed, with acidity that positively blooms on the perfumed finish, while savory, detailed tannins provide gentle grip. Rather sophisticated. Vinous 95 2022-04-12
2019 Decibel Pinot Noir Martinborough The dry-farmed, organic 2019 Pinot Noir, from the Martinborough region, is brooding, round and shapely, with mouthwatering acidity. A high level of concentration suggests low yields, while the plentiful color and tannic density point to small berries. A young and intense yet shapely wine with tannins akin to licking a stone. The cinnamon and nutmeg spices of oak barrel maturation integrate with the brooding fruit, which is reminiscent of black cherries, violets and dried herbs. This is a wine whose underlying power and substance can't be ignored. It could be approached now with a hunk of lamb, but I'm more keen to see it in 6–10 years' time. Vinous 93 2022-04-12
2019 Decibel Malbec Gimblett Gravels The 2019 Malbec Decibel by Daniel from American-born Daniel Brennan's brand is gorgeously fragrant and joyful. It bursts with parma violet, blackberry and blueberry flavors. While ripe and silken, it remains fresh and full of vigor with energetic but not extracted tannins. Sure to put a smile on your face – and that's what wine is meant to do. Vinous 91 2022-04-12
2018 Dunham Cabernet Sauvignon 'XXIV' Columbia Valley Tightly focused and appealing for the straightforward structure and expressive cherry and tobacco flavors, which finish with refined tannins. Drink now through 2028. 1,588 cases made. Wine Spectator 90 2022-04-11
2019 Isabel Estate Pinot Noir Exuberant, offering juicy cherry, blood orange and fresh herb accents, with spice, green tea and dried lavender notes on a supple, vibrant frame. Drink now through 2035. 1,800 cases made, 448 cases imported. Wine Spectator 91 2022-04-07
2018 Pierrail Bordeaux Superieur Ripe and rich nose with blackcurrants, iodine, tree bark and some sweet spices and coffee. This is a full-bodied red with deep fruit, coated by chewy tannins. A little denser and more powerful than the 2019, but less juicy. Some vanilla in the finish. Needs some time to settle. Better in 2024. James Suckling 90 2022-04-07
2020 Pierrail Bordeaux Blanc Grapefruit, dried pineapple, pumpkin seeds, cardamom and salted almonds on the nose. Medium-bodied with fresh acidity and a spicy, flavorful palate. Ambitious style with generous oak and lingering cedar and salted-almond notes. Drink now. James Suckling 90 2022-04-07
2017 Verbena Brunello di Montalcino Black-cherry, lightly burnt orange and currant aromas follow through to a full body with lots of fresh tannins and zesty fruit, as well as hints of new wood. A little young and slightly rough, but there’s potential here for the vintage. Give it a year or two of bottle age. Try after 2023. James Suckling 91 2022-04-07
2018 El Principal Cabernet Sauvignon Blend 'Calicanto' Maipo Andes Valley The juicy and fruit-driven 2018 Calicanto, a blend of 49% Cabernet Sauvignon, 38% Carmenère, 7% Syrah, 3% Malbec and 2% Cabernet Franc, has the light of the higher-altitude vineyards from Los Andes, a kind of brightness that combines some herbal and wild berry aromas and a spicy touch. This is higher in Carmenère, and it's spicier and peppery, with a medium-bodied palate with fine and round tannins, a gentle texture and good balance. 132,000 bottles produced. It was bottled in April 2019. Wine Advocate 90 2022-04-07
