Chardonnay Hawke's Bay 'Testify' |
The 2020 Chardonnay Testify offers substantial concentration and a weighty core of savory fruit. It's a big mouthful of just-ripe Conference pears, beeswax, and hazelnut flavors. Despite its assuring core, the wine concludes with salivating acidity and a sense of texture that focuses the wine on the lengthy finish. |

Isabel Estate |
Pinot Noir |
A full-bodied, richly textured example thanks to the richer soils on the estate's southern borders. You can expect attractive aromas of violets, herbs and red cherries. There's a sumptuous veil of fine-grained tannins that coat the mouth and add sinew and a sense of purpose on the medium-length finish. If you were feeling intrepid, you could approach this now with a decent hunk of meat, but leave it for a couple of years to enjoy its evolution of flavor and tannin. |

Domaine Alain Voge |
Cornas Les Vieilles Vignes |
This is packed with succulent cherry, plum paste and blackberry fruit flavors that show hints of mulled spice, dried anise, singed tobacco and sweet tapenade as they move through. A mouthwatering mineral edge extends the lengthy finish. Cellar patiently, then serve with game for the full seduction. Best from 2024 through 2038. From France. #95 of Wine Spectator’s Top 100 Wines of 2022 |

Cuarto Dominio |
Malbec 'Tradición de Familia' |
Deep, dense and exciting nose, exhibiting minty blackberries, new leather, tar, sandalwood, incense and mocha cream. Huge concentration, but delivered naturally and not overdone. The palate is clenched by powerful yet closely knit tannins. Full and concentrated, but polished. Persistent. Early now. Give it time for the oak to settle and complexity to develop. Best from 2025. |

Malbec 'Lote 44' |
Think vanilla-cherry ice cream. Cherry pie, too. This is full and fleshy with generous fruit. Plump and round. While remaining juicy, the lower acidity creates a smoother, creamier mouth-feel. Drink now. |
