Tintilla 'Terracota' |
After tasting some very complex whites, it was hard to taste the reds, so I had to take a break and a reset to go to the 2022 Terracota (temporarily called Amphora in the previous vintage), produced with Tintilla de Rota grapes in a fresh style but marked by the warm and dry year, when it achieved 13.5% alcohol while it kept five grams of acidity. The grapes were picked early, and the wine fermented and matured in terracotta tinaja, or ánfora, for 12 months, trying to preserve the freshness and primary character of the variety. It was produced with grapes grown on albariza soils 10 kilometers from the sea in the Pago Balbaína. 2,800 bottles produced. It was bottled in April 2024. |

Shiraz 'Angels Share' McLaren Vale |
The 2022 Angel's Share Shiraz is saturated with black cherry, raspberry, licorice and pink peppercorn-rolled pastrami. In the mouth, it is all of this: silky and spicy and concentrated but not heavy. Nicely done. 14.4% alcohol, sealed under screw cap. |

Cabernet Sauvignon 'Sexy Beast' McLaren Vale |
A deep color in the glass. The 2021 Sexy Beast is open for business and immediately launches into decadent and luscious blackcurrant jam and dark chocolate aromas but is nicely tempered by a gentle leafiness and toasty oak. It continues in the bold, high-octane style on the palate with significant upfront impact and then dense, dark berry fruit touches with serious power and length. Juicy acidity and oak tannins also provide a good backbone to enjoy over the short to medium term. |

Palomino 'Mon Amour' |
The barrel-fermented white 2021 Mon Amour Balbaína Baja has a more Burgundian profile from the third-use barrels, where the wine fermented and matured with lees for 18 months. It's spicy and creamy with some herbal notes, hints of chalk and sea breeze and a clear salty twist in the finish. It has a combination of characteristics from the grape, place, process and vintage. It has 13% natural alcohol with mellow acidity and a bone-dry finish. 1,799 bottles were filled in July 2023. |

Palomino 'Forlong Blanco' |
2023 was a year marked by 10 days of warm "Levante" wind that influenced the wines. The 2023 Blanco, an unfortified Palomino white, is a little more powerful and concentrated, with 12.5% alcohol and mellow acidity. It has a tender palate and a bitter twist in the finish. It fermented in stainless steel with indigenous yeasts and was bottled unoaked. 22,899 bottles produced. It was bottled in January 2024. |

Etna Rosso 'Pistus' |
Ripe strawberries and cherries with black pepper and smoky, earthy tones. Medium-bodied, this has silky tannins, moderate refreshing acidity and a polished finish. Not too extracted, more elegant than powerful, it’s delicious to drink now. |

Palomino 'Burbuja' |
The organic ancestral sparkling white 2022 Burbuja Blanco was produced with Palomino grapes from Balbaína on "lustrillo" albariza soils. It fermented in stainless steel and was put in bottle in September 2022 and finished fermenting in bottle, where it was kept with the lees until it was disgorged in June 2023. It has a cloudy golden color, an expressive nose dominated by notes from the soil rather than the variety, medium ripeness and 12.5% alcohol with mellow acidity and a dry finish, denoting a warm and dry year. It has small bubbles and a very sapid palate, round, creamy and tasty with an almost salty finish. 2,000 bottles produced. |

Palomino 'Amigo Imaginario' |
The golden 2021 Amigo Imaginario is an unfortified skin-contact white from old vines matured in old Oloroso barrels for 18 months. It has nutty notes and hints of peach I had not noticed in previous vintages, more marked by the barrel and with more Sherry character this time. It's round and velvety, with some fine tannins and a chalky finish. More than ever, it's like a young Oloroso... 2,800 bottles produced. It was bottled in December 2022. |
