2023 Domaine de Fondrèche Persia The 2023 Ventoux Persia is mostly Syrah but includes 5% Mourvèdre, raised two thirds in foudre and one-third in new barrels. Coming all from silex soils, its deep purple hue is followed by a Saint Joseph-like nose of beautiful black and blue fruits, violets, bacon fat, and pepper. With medium to full-bodied richness, a bright, pure, elegant mouthfeel, and ripe tannins, it shows the supple yet pure and incredibly impressive style of the vintage. Jeb Dunnuck 92-94 2025-02-25
2023 Domaine de Fondrèche Syrah 'Divergente' From very old Syrah vines brought up in concrete round Galileo tanks and new barrels, the 2023 Ventoux Divergent is another pure, seamless, silky beauty that does everything right. Black and blue fruits, pepper, sappy garrigue, and some gamey notes all give this a Cornas-like vibe, but it's incredibly pure, polished, and elegant on the palate, with fine tannins. 2023 Fattoria Nanni Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi Classico ‘Arsicci’ A very peppery and open wine with fierce, spicy minerality, restrained character and sweet stone fruit aromas such as white peaches. 2022 Bhilar Graciano 'Lagrimas de Bhilar' The 2022 Lágrimas de Bhilar Graciano managed to keep the moderate alcohol and freshness in a warm year like 2022. It was produced with grapes from younger vineyards, fermented in concrete and matured in 8,000-liter oak vat. It's aromatic, herbal, spicy and minty, very showy, juicy and with a soft mouthfeel. 2019 Bhilar Garnacha 'Phinca El Vedao' The 2019 Phinca El Vedao is pure Garnacha from a lieu-dit ("paraje" in Spanish) that gives the wine its name, where they have two vineyards. It fermented in a 2,000-liter concrete vat and matured in 500-liter French oak barrels for 30 months. It has 14.5% alcohol, a low pH and notable acidity. It has a very balsamic nose with abundant sweet spices and aromatic herbs, exotic and aromatic. 2018 Decibel Red Blend Gimblett Gravels ‘Testify’ A solidly built robust red made from 80% malbec & 20% merlot. The enticing bouquet shows blackcurrant, spiced cherry, subtle tobacco, cured meat and cedar characters, leading to a concentrated palate exhibiting excellent depth and richness. 2022 Bhilar Tinto The red 2022 Bhilar, a village wine from Elvillar, was produced with grapes from their younger biodynamic vines and is a blend of 75% Tempranillo, 15% Viura and 10% Graciano. It was produced with 20% full clusters that fermented with indigenous yeasts. It matured in 225- and 500-liter French oak barrels for one year. It has 14% alcohol and is balsamic and exotic, with notes of cola nut and other spices and herbs.
