Shiraz 'Bishop' |
The 2021 Bishop Shiraz is pristine, supple and concentrated. There are layers of mulberry, raspberry and salted licorice (red licorice, too) in the mouth, shaped by fine, pliable tannins. It is bendy like high-jump poles. This is really great value for money. It is reliably high quality, delivering a modern, satisfying Barossa experience. What more do you want? 14.5% alcohol, sealed under screw cap. |

Glaetzer |
Shiraz 'Bishop' |
This 2020 Bishop Shiraz is a saturating and pure example of Barossa Shiraz, from a warm, compacted and low-yielding vintage. The wine in the glass is the very essence of Barossa, with red, earthy tannins, spicy/toasty oak and a fruit profile that spans red, purple and black. Really well done. Delicious. |

Zinfandel North Coast |
Chocolate, ripe cherries and hints of white pepper on the nose of this flavorful red. It’s full-bodied, fleshy and juicy, with medium tannins. Not too heavy. Drink now. Screw cap. |

Barolo Rocche dell'Annunziata |
Made with fruit from La Morra, the 2018 Barolo Rocche dell'Annunziata (with 15% alcohol) shows sweet cherry and plum that is folded into spice, tar and leather. This is a mid-weight Barolo with integrated tannins and fresh acidity that keeps things bright. |

Verbena |
Rosso di Montalcino |
An intense and perfumed wine with leather, dark wild fruit, forest floor and Mediterranean herbs. Graphite dominates on the palate, with a medium body, grainy tannins and moderate acidity. Toasted finish. Drink or hold. |

Zinfandel 'La Storia' Alexander Valley |
Red-fruited aromas of maraschino cherries, Damson plums, Jolly Rancher candy and potpourri. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins and balanced acidity, giving sweet notes of raspberry coulis, baking spices an dried herbs. Oddly sweet. Drink now. |

Silvano Bolmida |
Barolo ‘Bussia Vigna dei Fantini’ |
The 2020 Barolo Bussia Vigne dei Fantini is the most reticent of these Barolos from Silvano Bolmida. White truffle, iron, dried herbs and sweet dried cherry emerge with some reluctance. The tannins are pretty forbidding at this stage. It will be interesting to see where the 2020 goes in the coming years. |

Barolo ‘Bussia’ |
The 2020 Barolo Bussia is a classy and understated to the core. Hints of kirsch, cinnamon, cedar, leather and orange peel give this mid-weight yet deep Barolo lovely aromatic intensity as well as a good bit of brightness. The 2020 exudes balance and class, not to mention quite a bit of appeal, even in the early going. |

Barolo ‘Le Coste di Monforte’ |
The 2020 Barolo Le Coste di Monforte is a powerful, dynamic wine. Macerated dark cherry, spice, leather, espresso and strong balsamic inflections all run through this brooding, strapping Barolo. I would give the 2020 a few years in bottle. There is certainly no lack of personality or character here. |

Barolo 'Cerviano Merli' |
The 2020 Barolo Cerviano-Merli is soft, open-knit and very easy to like. Crushed flowers, herbs, mint, macerated cherry, cedar and sweet pipe tobacco give this mid-weight Barolo lovely aromatic presence. The 2020 is quite delicate, lithe and understated, with fine balance and lovely persistence. |
