2023 Isabel Estate Sauvignon Blanc The 2023 Sauvignon Blanc is juicy, bright, grassy, green and a little vegetal, with a profusion of white flowers, nashi pear and lemon barley. In the mouth, the acidity is crunchy, making for pert, fresh drinking. I was recently in Brisbane visiting my family, and my Nanna loves this wine—we consumed quite a bit of it over that week, and I can confirm it is a suitable match to the warm and humid Brisbane weather. 13% alcohol, sealed under screw cap. 2020 Rocca di Castagnoli Chianti Classico Riserva ‘Poggio a’ Frati’ The 2020 Chianti Classico Riserva Poggio a'Frati is quite imposing in its first impression. Black cherry, gravel, incense, tobacco, licorice, menthol and dried herbs confer somber intensity, an impression reinforced by the wine's imposing tannins. I would give this a year or two in bottle to soften, but even so, readers should expect a virile Riserva for the dinner table. Vinous 93 2025-01-29
2022 Trentadue Zinfandel 'La Storia' Alexander Valley Bright and joyous aromas of raspberry, Meyer lemon, lilac and anise jump from the nose of this Zin. This perfect barbecue wine showcases excellent bang for the buck. Wine Enthusiast 92 2025-01-27
2022 Trentadue Cabernet Sauvignon 'La Storia' Alexander Valley Fresh, juicy raspberry aromas dominate the nose of this lighter-bodied Cabernet, and the palate is equally fruit-forward and friendly. Flavors of cherry candy, raspberry jam, mint and caramel wash over the palate before an acid-driven finish that lingers with echoes of cocoa and black pepper. Wine Enthusiast 91 2025-01-27
2022 Trentadue Petite Sirah 'La Storia' Alexander Valley Intense aromas of crushed blueberry, clove and violets dominate the nose of this wine. The fleshy but not overpowering palate brings more spicy blue fruit, black pepper and a lovely streak of acidity that buoys the entire affair. Drink with barbequed ribs or chops. Wine Enthusiast 92 2025-01-27
2019 La Fiorita Brunello di Montalcino This red is floral with tangy, crunchy fruit on the nose, from peonies and violets to passion fruit, red plum and raspberry. More fruit and earth appear on the palate, with berries, herbs and flower petals striking a fine-tuned balance between the sweet and tonic, anchored in a bitter depth from earth and iron. Wine Enthusiast 95 2025-01-27
2022 Trentadue OPR Red Robust aromas of blackberry compote, plums, baking spices and mocha. The palate is full-bodied with fine tannins and balanced acidity, giving notes of sultanas and dried herbs. 2020 Carbonnieux Pessac-Leognan Rouge 'Chateau Tour Leognan' A ripe, balanced wood-aged wine, this is complex and has a great future. It has plenty of black currant fruits from the blend of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon to give the wine its richness along with spice from wood aging. Drink from 2026. Wine Enthusiast 90 2025-01-23
2021 Glaetzer Shiraz 'Bishop' The 2021 Bishop Shiraz is pristine, supple and concentrated. There are layers of mulberry, raspberry and salted licorice (red licorice, too) in the mouth, shaped by fine, pliable tannins. It is bendy like high-jump poles. This is really great value for money. It is reliably high quality, delivering a modern, satisfying Barossa experience. What more do you want? 14.5% alcohol, sealed under screw cap. Wine Advocate 92 2025-01-22
