2013 La Fiorita Brunello di Montalcino This is fresh, evoking cherry, floral, black pepper, mineral, earth and tobacco aromas and flavors. The assertive tannins come into play by the long finish, yet this shows balance overall. Best from 2022 through 2037. 400 cases imported. Wine Spectator 95 2018-05-22
2017 Barker's Marque Three Brooms Sauvignon Blanc Blind River The most concentrated of the Barker's marque range is the 2017 Three Brooms Sauvignon Blanc, which combines tropical and stone fruit notes with hints of sugar snap peas. It's medium-bodied and round in the mouth, where nectarine flavors dominate, leading into a ripe, citrusy finish. Wine Advocate 90 2018-05-10
2016 Dominio de Eguren Protocolo Tinto Organic As with the other cuvées brought in by Ordonez, the 2016 Protocolo Tinto Organic is a step up over the non-organic release. Made all from Tempranillo from 30- to 70-year-old vines, this smoking value boasts a deep ruby/purple color as well as terrific notes of ripe black fruits, cured meats, and peppery herbs. With an almost northern Rhône like character, medium to full-bodied richness, and shocking elegance and length at the price point, it’s a terrific red to drink over the coming 3-4 years. 2016 Bodegas Ordonez Nisia Made from 100% Verdejo, the 2016 Nisia is a vibrant, fresh, racy effort that has a touch citrus rind, flowers, and hints of steely minerality emerging from the glass. It's medium-bodied, balanced and vibrant, with bright acidity and plenty of texture. It's another versatile, high quality, well-made white that's a perfect tapas wine. This cuvée comes all from sandy soils and head pruned vines and was brought up in a mix of barrel and tank. Jeb Dunnuck 90 2018-05-09
2016 Bodegas Y Vinedos Ilurce Rio Madre Made from 100% Graciano aged in neutral oak, the 2016 Rio Madre offers a ripe bouquet of black cherries, blackberries, dried flowers, leather, and damp earth. Rich and nicely concentrated, it's medium-bodied, well-balanced, and has a solid, layered texture as well as a great finish. It blossoms with time in the glass, has plenty of fruit and character, and is a rock-solid value. Jeb Dunnuck 90 2018-05-09
2013 Ramirez de la Piscina Reserva Seleccion The 2013 Reserva Selección is a step up over the Reserve and offers more black cherry, cedarwood, spice, and leather aromas and flavors. Made from 100% Tempranillo aged 20 months in equal parts new French and American oak, it's medium to full-bodied, nicely concentrated, ripe and textured. It will keep for a decade or more. This is solid stuff. Jeb Dunnuck 91 2018-05-09
2013 Ramirez de la Piscina Reserva Seleccion (aged for 16 months in a combination of French and American oak barrels and released after two years of bottle age) Bright violet. Spicy black and blue fruits, pungent flowers, roasted coffee and a hint of vanilla on the deeply perfumed nose. Juicy and expansive in the mouth, offering concentrated blackberry and bitter cherry flavors that turn sweeter on the back half. The vanilla and cherry notes linger on the spicy, persistent finish, which is shaped by supple, even tannins. Vinous 91 2018-05-09
2014 Bodegas Ordonez Zerran (fermented in stainless steel tanks and then aged for ten months in used French oak barriques): Opaque purple. Fresh black and blue fruit aromas are sharpened by a smoky mineral nuance and a sexy flourish of fresh lavender. Sappy and seamless in texture, offering juicy boysenberry flavors and a jolt of enlivening minerality. Finishes silky, precise and very long, with lingering florality and harmonious tannins. There's pretty remarkable value here. Vinous 91 2018-05-09
2016 Bodegas Ordonez Nisia Las Suertes A deeper, more serious wine compared to the straight Nisia cuvée, the 2016 Nisia Las Suertes is also 100% Verdejo and spent 12 months sur lie in a mix of French oak puncheons and demi-muids. It offers terrific notes of buttered citrus, pineapple, white flowers, mint, and hints of salty minerality. Vibrant, concentrated, and rich, yet with bright acidity and a great finish, it's a beautifully layered, balanced white that will shine on the table. It's impressive. Jeb Dunnuck 92 2018-05-09
2010 Ramirez de la Piscina Gran Reserva The 2010 Gran Reserva is 100% Tempranillo from vineyards in Abalos and San Vicente de la Sonsierra that spent 24 months in new French and American oak. It's a deep, inky effort that's loaded with notions of blackcurrants, scorched earth, graphite, and lead pencil. Concentrated, rich, and full-bodied on the palate, with an awesome, expansive texture and sweet tannin, it's a seriously good, rich, concentrated effort that's going to benefit from 2-3 years of bottle age and cruise for 10-15 years in the cellar.
