2016 David Arthur Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon Elevation 1147 The 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Elevation 1147 has the most freshness and nuance of the David Arthur Cabernets. The 2016 is dark and rich, as all these wines are, and yet also maintains a good bit of detail. Super-ripe red cherry, cedar, tobacco, and spiced menthol give the 2016 much of its considerable aromatic nuance. The Elevation 1147 is nicely done and quite promising, Vinous 92-95 2018-04-05
2015 David Arthur Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon Estate Three Acre Dark cherry, cloves, cinnamon, new leather, spice and menthol give the 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon Three Acre its distinctive dark, almost brooding profile. In this vintage, the Three Acre is especially dense, with a bit more richness than is typically the case. Then again, that is 2015. I expect the 2015 will drink well upon release, but it also has enough depth to develop nicely for another decade or more. The burly tannins need time to soften. Vinous 92 2018-04-05
2015 David Arthur Vineyards Meritaggio The 2015 Meritaggio is a very pretty wine. Silky, perfumed and light on its feet, the 2015 is a gorgeous wine to drink now and over the next few years. This Sangiovese-based red is decidedly feminine and lithe in feel. Bright acids bring out those qualities even further. Vinous 90 2018-04-05
2016 David Arthur Vineyards Meritaggio The 2016 Meritaggio offers quite a bit more depth and overall darkness than is often the case. Black cherry, spice and new leather are nicely pushed forward in this decidedly succulent, juicy edition of the Meritaggio. The Sangiovese is not especially evident. Vinous 90-93 2018-04-05
2014 Behrens Family Winery Cemetery The 2014 Cemetery, from one of the top sites in St. Helena, is fabulous. Rich and sumptuous to the core, the 2014 possesses tremendous depth, not to mention pedigree. Dark red cherry, plum, smoke, licorice and exotic spice flesh out in this resonant, virile Cabernet Sauvignon. Vinous 95 2018-04-05
2014 Behrens Family Winery Labor of Love The 2014 Labor of Love is most austere and tightly wound of these 2014s. It will be interesting to see if the 2014 gains more flesh with time in bottle. Sweet tobacco, herb, licorice and leather notes open up gradually, but the 2014 is a reticent wine that is not at all giving today. Vinous 90 2018-04-05
2014 Behrens Family Winery Spare Me The 2014 Spare Me is bright, focused and delineated, as so many wines are in this vintage. The aromatics are really popping today. Rose petal, cinnamon and sweet red berry notes abound in this super-appealing, mid-weight Cabernet from Behrens. Dollops of Merlot and Malbec round out the blend. With an expected price in the $60-65 range, Spare Me is one of the best values in Napa Valley today. Vinous 93 2018-04-05
2012 Collelceto Brunello di Montalcino Riserva Vivid dark red. Outstanding verve to the aromas of sour red cherry, raspberry, white pepper, violet and spices. At once velvety and racy on the palate, showing great energy and focus to the rich, ripe but vibrant red fruit, floral and mineral flavors. This electric wine has an almost steely quality from start to subtle, rising, mouth-coating finish. Amazing Brunello Riserva from Collelceto. Vinous 95 2018-04-04
2016 Trabun Malbec Sergio Avendano's grapes come from the coolest part of Cachapoal and it shows in the freshness and vibrancy of this young vine clone 43 Malbec. Peppery, fresh, and attractive with attractive red fruits and a hint of wood. Tim Atkin 92 2018-03-26
2017 Trabun Malbec Soaked blueberry character, orange juice, ink and white chocolate. Bright and vivid on the palate with a medium-to-full body, and a huge serving of blue fruit, vibrant acidity and a fruity finish. Drink now. James Suckling 92 2018-03-26
