Mas d'en Gil |
Coma Blanca |
Wearing a classical label on a Burgundy bottle that very much resembles the wines produced at the property years ago, the top of the range in white is the 2014 Coma Blanca. It is produced with 60% Macabeo and 40% Garnacha Blanca from the older vineyards and has an intense, developed and captivating nose. It mixes aromas of dried flowers and spices with a hint of petrol and some iodine, making it lightly balsamic and medicinal. The palate shows some lightness that is unexpected, coming through as fluid and fresh, with good balance; it's more about the freshness of the backbone and salty minerality. Complex and balanced. The aging was only six months in 500-liter French and Austrian oak barrels. This is a wine that develops nicely in bottle and can go for a decade. Enjoy it in a large glass. 2,348 bottles produced. It was bottled in May 2015. |

Domaine Cabirau |
Serge & Nicolas Maury Sec |
A blend of 63% Grenache, 23% Carignan and 14% Syrah aged partially in demi-muids, the 2016 Maury Sec Serge & Nicolas (named after the estate manager and the winemaker) is a dark, brooding, representation of ripe fruit and crushed stone. Some brighter raspberry notes emerge with air, and while there's ample weight and richness, the wine is by no means heavy or overly weighty. It's a well-balanced but hearty red at a terrific price. |

Domaine Cabirau |
First Things First |
Essentially a lot selection of the Serge & Nicolas that saw extended élevage in foudre, the 2015 Maury Sec First Things First shows a greater degree of elegance and polish as a result. Cherry fruit is accented by hints of baking spices and garrigue, plus vague notions of leather and suede that border on being textural elements as well as aromas and flavors. It's remarkably weightless and silky for a wine from Maury. |

Domaine Poli |
Niellucciu Rose Ile de Beaute |
Pale eye of the partridge. Minerals, garrigue and rose petal aromas. Very fresh, mineral laden palate with good intensity of sour cherry fruit. Firmly structured but delicate on the palate, this is a serious food wine. Direct press; 100% Niellucciu from the Domaine Eric Poli's vineyards in the commune of Linguizzetta in Corsica. Eric Poli is the winemaker. I |

Chateau de L'Aumerade |
Rose Cuvee Marie-Christine |
Light pink. Syrah makes itself known in this Provence blend. Darker fruit notes show on a beautifully extracted wine, but red berry/cherry notes appear on the finish. Crisp, clean and great balance. A blend of 42% Cinsault, 34% Grenache/Garnacha, and 24% Syrah grown on clay-limestone soils in Cru Classé vineyards located in Côtes de Provence's "Golden Triangle". |

Blushing Bear Rose |
Very pale rose, near clear rim. Mourvèdre 50%, Grenache 30%, Cinsault 20%. Actor Kyle McLachlan’s Winery project, with wines made by Dan Wampfler (Abeja). Given the dominant variety, we are not surprised this is a more richly textured, fuller bodied Bandol-style Rosé. Faint berry aromas, then light mineral-fresh, slightly stony aromas. Medium plus acidity adds relief and provides a nice saline, earthy/mineral length to the finish. Not as breezy and lifted as most rosé wines, but perfect to drink with fuller dishes and richly flavorful ones. A blend of 50% Mourvèdre, 30% Grenache and 20% Cinsault made Provence style by winemaker Kyle MacLachlan. 12.9% alc. |

Rich and focused, this red delivers ripe fruit flavors of currant and blackberry that mingle with espresso, mineral and licorice notes. The firm tannins are well-integrated and crisp acidity keeps this focused. Concentrated and harmonious. Drink now through 2030 |
