Bellmunt |
The wine is medium intensity showing lots of spices such as liquorice. It also has a leathery sensation with a dominant oak charge. The alcohol sensation is high. It has lots of flavours reflecting cooked berries. A warm, broad and ample Priorat. Drink 2016-2022 |

Sexy Beast |
For an inky hued New World wine, there's an awful lot of classic to the 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Sexy Beast. Start with the nose of pencil shavings and cassis. Add a streamlined, medium to full-bodied palate that shows genuine Cabernet structure—firm acids and crisp edges. Yes, it's bold, flavorful and approachable young, but it also fits into Cabernet's varietal tradition. |

Lake County Sauvignon Blanc |
This lean and refreshing wine smells minerally and tastes bright and citrusy, backed by crisp acidity and a light body. Lemon and lime merge with light herb and mineral flavors that stay lively with each sip. |

Syrah |
The 2013 Syrah is a worthy follow up to the 2012, a pure Syrah from Requinoa in Cachapoal, which fermented traditionally with a total maceration of 30 days and matured in used French oak barrels for some 18 months. 2013 was a complicated vintage; there was a lot of odium and people had to work hard in the vineyard. The wine needed more time in barrel to get polished. The nose is very Syrah, with nicely integrated oak and a dominance of the classical smoked bacon, violets and tapenade aromas complemented by an earthy touch. The palate is medium to full-bodied, there are no corrections here, and the acidity is always what is obtained naturally. The tannins are fine. I think this is still very young and should evolve nicely in bottle. A Cachapoal Syrah with a Rhône accent. 5,756 bottles produced. |

Syrah |
Mid to dark crimson. High-toned, lifted, rather intriguing. Juicy start and then masses of fine tannin. Well constructed for the long term. Very dry finish for the moment. But there is silky fruit in the middle. Should be a good long-distance runner. |

Gewurztraminer Arroyo Seco |
This is a fascinating wine at all turns. The color is not darker than water, and the aromas are extremely juicy with orange blossom, poached pear, bubblegum and gardenia - one of the most aromatic bottlings around. The palate is bone dry with a chalky flavor and backbone, yet hints of bubblegum and plumeria give warmth. |

Parts & Labor Mendocino |
Kenny Likitprakong designed Parts & Labor as a California red in the spirit of simple bistro wines. He changes up the blend every year, this vintage made from Redwood Valley carignane (50 percent), Potter Valley syrah, Arroyo Seco grenache and Redwood Valley barbera. He ferments the lots separately, in stainless steel without adding yeasts, then blends them and ages the wine mostly in steel, some in large and small barrels. It comes together in fresh, light and frisky red - bright, lovely juice that hints at cranberries and flowers. It's a clean, savory wine for country pâté. |

Zinfandel Rockpile Branham Vineyard |
Bristling with energy, this wine gains its edge from a co-fermentation of fruit from old zinfandel vines and a little petite sirah harvested at the same time, which puts it on the early side of ripeness. Kenny Likitprakong fermented it with 30 percent whole clusters and without added yeasts, then aged it in French oak puncheons. That oak mellowed the wine toward supple fruitiness, with umami notes of forest mushrooms and tart cherries, but the emphasis is on rocks, sage brush and high-elevation chaparral. |

Le Rose |
The medium-bodied 2017 Le Rose posseses a richness that belies its pale hue. It's savory and rich, with hints of confection but with more meaty, savory notes and dark berries. The blend is 50% Syrah, 40% Grenache and 10% Cinsault, done direct-press in all stainless steel. |

Serge & Nicolas Maury Sec |
A blend of 63% Grenache, 23% Carignan and 14% Syrah aged partially in demi-muids, the 2016 Maury Sec Serge & Nicolas (named after the estate manager and the winemaker) is a dark, brooding, representation of ripe fruit and crushed stone. Some brighter raspberry notes emerge with air, and while there's ample weight and richness, the wine is by no means heavy or overly weighty. It's a well-balanced but hearty red at a terrific price. |
