2019 Jean-Marc Burgaud Beaujolais 'Les Vignes de Lantignie' Offering up pretty aromas of blackberries, peonies and subtle forest floor, the 2019 Beaujolais-Villages Les Vignes de Lantignié is medium to full-bodied, velvety and enveloping, with lively acids, velvety tannins and a long, mouthwatering finish. As usual, this saw a short six- or seven-day maceration with whole clusters, followed by élevage in cement tank. Once again, Burgaud has produced a characterful and viscerally drinkable Beaujolais-Villages that exemplifies all the merits—as well as the incredible value—offered by the appellation at its best. 2019 Jean-Marc Burgaud Morgon Cote du Py The 2019 Morgon Côte du Py has turned out beautifully, delivering an inviting nose of smoky black cherries, cassis and licorice. Medium to full-bodied, bright and lively, it's deep and concentrated, with a fleshy core of fruit underpinned by tangy acids. This is another of Burgaud's real successes this year. 2019 Jean-Marc Burgaud Morgon Les Charmes Aromas of blackberries, mulberries and cherries, complemented by hints of cracked pepper, introduce Burgaud's 2019 Morgon Les Charmes, a medium to full-bodied, rich and lively wine that's more than usually structured this year, its powdery tannins asserting themselves on the finish. 2019 Jean-Marc Burgaud Regnie Vallieres From 50-year-old vines growing in stony, sandy soils, the 2019 Régnié Vallières bursts with aromas of cherries, raspberries and blackberries, complemented by subtle hints of potpourri and smoked meats. Medium to full-bodied, fleshy and enveloping, it's velvety and succulent, with an ample core of beautifully pure fruit that's girdled by melting tannins and lively acids. This has turned out especially well this year. Wine Advocate 93 2020-05-29
2018 Jean-Marc Burgaud Morgon Cote du Py 'Javernieres' Burgaud's 2018 Morgon Côte du Py Javernières is showing beautifully, unfurling in the glass with a deep-pitched but youthfully reserved bouquet that mingles hints of cassis and plum with notions of baking chocolate, grilled meats, cracked pepper and violets. Medium to full-bodied, rich but lively, it's built around powdery and abundant structuring tannins and succulent acids, revealing terrific depth at the core and concluding with a long, elegantly sapid finish. This should be quite spectacular with a few years of bottle age. Wine Advocate 94+ 2020-05-29
