2019 Supernatural Wine Co. Cabernet Franc 'Paranormal' Partial whole-bunch fermentation, indigenous yeasts, no oak, no fining—Supernatural's 2019 The Paranormal Cabernet Franc checks most of the "natural wine" boxes. The result is a riotous bouquet of red raspberries, rose petals and fresh herbs. It's medium to full-bodied, round and expansive on the palate, with silky, plush tannins and a slightly jammy, fruit-filled finish sure to disappoint hardcore naturalistas but impress the rest of us. It's admirably pure, easy to drink and simply delicious now, so why wait? Wine Advocate 90 2021-06-21
2018 Decibel Pinot Noir Martinborough 'Testify' Mostly Dijon clones 667 and 777, with a bit of UCD5, the 2018 Testify Pinot Noir aged in 25% new French oak. The result is pleasantly floral and spicy, with hints of rose petals, tea leaves, Bing cherries, cinnamon and clove. It's medium-bodied and shows a bit of wood tannin on the palate, but it remains fairly graceful despite that—and those tannins should resolve within a year or two, leaving silkier grape tannins and a long, mouthwatering finish to remain. 2017 Andrea Oberto Barolo Albarella The Andrea Oberto 2017 Barolo Albarella, with fruit from the village of Barolo, shows round and ripe fruit with black cherry, plum and crème de cassis. The ripeness is not intrusive nor too heavy, although the entire aromatic and taste profile of this wine is pushed in the direction of power and determination. Like the other samples in this flight, the alcohol content clocks in at a noticeable 15%, but that extra fruit texture and richness do a pretty good job of smoothing it over. This is a medium-term Barolo for sure. Enjoy with an easy meat dish. Only 5,300 bottles were made. Wine Advocate 91 2021-06-21
2017 Andrea Oberto Barolo Rocche dell'Annunziata With fruit from La Morra, where this winery is located, the Andrea Oberto 2017 Barolo Rocche dell'Annunziata is dark and enriched, all thanks to the heat and dry growing conditions of this growing cycle. You taste the extra fruit power and concentration with baked cherry and blackberry. The mouthfeel is textured and rich, imparting more muscle than grace at this point. That appears to be a common trait found in Nebbiolo from 2017. Only 3,900 bottles were made. Wine Advocate 92 2021-06-21
2018 Chateau Brondeau du Tertre Château Brondeau du Tertre This smoothly textured wine has ripe black-currant fruits and a polished character. Wood aging has given the fruit tones a heightened elegance that will stand the wine in good stead as it matures. Drink from 2022. Editors' Choice Wine Enthusiast 91 2021-06-21
NV Sabate i Coca Brut Reserva Rosat 'Castellroig' Marcel Sabate makes this wine at his family estate, blending garnacha, trepat and xarel-lo in this pale-salmon-pink sparkler. It’s light and crisp while the bubbles are explosive, the effervescence limiting the flavor to tart Mandarin orange. The wine becomes luscious with air, yielding scents of orange blossoms and a clean purity of flavor as you work your way through the bottle. Wine & Spirits 90 2021-06-21
2020 Raza Vinho Verde 'Raza' Arinto (50 percent) and azal (35 percent) are two grapes that perform well in the Basto district of inland Vinho Verde. Blended here with trajadura, the combination is refreshing and green-apple bright, with juicy green-pear flavors lasting in the finish. The plentiful acidity and clean depth of fruit will take on pork with clams. Best Buy Wine & Spirits 91 2021-06-21
