2017 Pursued by Bear Syrah 'Baby Bear' Columbia Valley Black fruit, cracked pepper, smoked meat, olives and leather on the nose. It’s medium-to full-bodied with sleek tannins and fresh acidity. Juicy, savory and spicy with saline undertones. Drink now or hold. James Suckling 93 2021-07-02
2017 Pursued by Bear Red Blend 'Bear Cub' Columbia Valley Aromas of ripe plums, wet earth, peppercorns and beef stock. It’s medium-bodied with integrated tannins and a savory, umami character. Flavorful, textured finish. Drink now. James Suckling 91 2021-07-02
2018 Bhilar Rufete 'Phinca Encanto' The intensely varietal 2018 Phinca Encanto Rufete shows bright red berries and flowers and something earthy and rustic that I always find in Rufete. It has a medium-bodied palate with ripe fruit, some acid berry flavors and fine tannins. 2,670 bottles produced. Wine Advocate 93 2021-07-02
2017 Bhilar Rufete Blanco 'Phinca Durmiente' The amber-colored white 2017 Phinca Durmiente Rufete Blanco has a strong influence from the skin contact, which gives it notes of quince paste, pollen and honey, and it had a long élevage in barrel. The palate reveals plenty of tannin and moderate alcohol as well as notable acidity. This is quite unique, variety and style. 1,500 bottles. Wine Advocate 92 2021-07-02
2017 Bhilar Rufete 'Phinca Encanto' The 2017 Phinca Encanto Rufete shows a darker profile of aromas and earthier sensations than the 2018 I tasted next to it, but the varietal character emerged with time in the glass. It's slightly more rustic and has grainy tannins that call for food. 2,200 bottles were filled in the spring of 2020. Wine Advocate 92 2021-07-02
2017 Andrea Oberto Barolo Albarella A full-bodied red with sweet, ripe-plum and black-cherry aromas and flavors, together with hints of vanilla and crushed brazil nuts. The tannins are fine and firm, but provide no real barrier to the intense fruit flavors that push through the long finish. For that it’s tempting now, but better to wait two to three years. Try from 2023. James Suckling 93 2021-07-02
2017 Andrea Oberto Barolo Rocche dell'Annunziata Needs air to bring out the deep, ripe raspberries, rich earth, sandalwood and floral notes. Full, round and very silky with very fine, firm but not chewy tannins and plenty of complex fruit flavor already flooding the long finish. Tempting even now, but wait at least until 2023. James Suckling 94 2021-07-02
2018 Valderiz De Chiripa' Perfumed aromas of dried violet flank the glossy cherry, anise and leafy details in this well-crafted red. Elements of spice, dried orange peel and loamy earth round out the focused finish. Drink now through 2027. 1,000 cases made, 15 cases imported. Wine Spectator 90 2021-06-30
2018 Nekeas Garnacha 'El Chaparral de Vega Sindoa' Deep garnet. Mineral-tinged cherry, raspberry, vanilla and exotic spice aromas show excellent clarity and take on a smoky nuance with air. Appealingly sweet and expansive on the palate, offering juicy red fruit, rose pastille and spicecake flavors energized by a minerally topnote. Shows impressive energy and florality on the persistent finish, which is given shape by polished, even tannins. Vinous 92 2021-06-22
2017 Dunham Cabernet Sauvignon 'XXIII' Columbia Valley Blackcurrants, dried herbs, chili chocolate and hazelnuts on the nose. It’s medium-to full-bodied with firm, polished tannins. Integrated spice notes, layered with dark fruit and leaves. Delicious and balanced. Better in two or three years. James Suckling 93 2021-06-22
