Pinot Noir 'Merci Reserve' Chehalem Mountains |
Deep magenta. An expansive bouquet evokes ripe red and blue fruits, candied flowers and vanilla, and a spicy nuance builds in the glass. Sappy and well-concentrated, offering sweet boysenberry and cherry cola flavors that become more lively with air. Smoothly blends depth and vivacity and finishes very long and precise, with youthfully gripping tannins and strong florality. |

Barolo Rocche dell'Annunziata |
The 2018 Barolo Rocche dell'Annunziata is a classic wine from this La Morra site. Red flowers, cherry, mint, spice and orange peel are all beautifully lifted. The 2018 offers a compelling mix of energy, aromatics and mid-weight structure. The Rocche is a bit ethereal today, but all it needs is time in bottle to be at its most expressive. |

Barolo Albarella |
The 2018 Barolo Albarella conveys energy and tension. Medium in body and racy, the Albarella is showing very well today. Dark cherry, plum, spice, leather and dried rose petal build nicely in the glass. Floral accents lend brightness throughout. This is a terrific vintage for the Albarella. |

Barolo |
The 2018 Barolo del Comune di La Morra is a fleshy, succulent wine to drink now and over the next decade or so. Sweet red cherry, spice, cedar and tobacco are nicely pushed forward. Soft curves and silky tannins add to an impression of immediacy. It's hard to go wrong here. Vineyard sites are Annunziata, Boilo and San Francesco. |

Barolo Albarella |
The 2017 Barolo Albarella is a beautiful, inviting wine. Bright floral aromatics, orange peel and spice give the 2017 a pretty top register to balance the natural raciness of the year. Super-ripe red cherry, blood orange, mint and cinnamon lead into a finish supported by firm yet well-integrated tannins. This is very nicely done. |

Barolo Rocche dell'Annunziata |
The 2017 Barolo Rocche dell'Annunziata is a relatively delicate, understated wine at first, but the sheer richness of the vintage comes through just the same. Sweet cherries in liqueur, spice, menthol, mocha, licorice and leather develop with a bit of time in the glass. There is good depth and resonance, but overall, the Rocche looks like medium-term ager, as the fruit is likely to fade before the tannins soften. |

The wine has structure and richness. Together, they give density, ripe tannins and a juicy black-cherry quality to this fine wine. While the wine is young, it has swathes of fruit and structure. It is rich and ready to drink from 2023. |

Domaine du Pegau |
Cotes du Rhone Blanc 'Cuvee Lone' |
Self-confidently funky, full-bodied dry white that might remind some of high-end sauvignon blanc or others of dry riesling. Concentrated and well structured, this has plenty of drive, though not that much fruit. Long, crisp finish with plenty of spring-meadow character. Drink or hold. |
