2021 Di Giovanna Nero d'Avola 'Vurria' Enticing aromas of blackberry bush at first – just like smelling your hands after you’ve been blackberry picking. With air, eucalyptus and sea-urchin-like notes creep in and it’s these that go on to characterize the medium- to full-bodied palate, building through the finish. Fine, lightly firm tannins. Very savory at the end. A bit raw, but interesting. Drink now. James Suckling 90 2023-07-10
2018 Glaetzer Shiraz 'Eye of Ra' The classic 2018 vintage is on show here in this 2018 Shiraz Eye of Ra, sourced from four Ebenezer vineyards before maturating for 16 months in new French oak. It is a classy wine from the get go. Roast meats, mulberry, and aged spices emerge, all composed and beautifully weighted, with touches of wood smoke completing the package. Voluptuous, creamy and superbly executed, it is a voluptuous rendition of Barossa with layer after layer of flavor building over a solid base of tannins. The finish is sustained, vibrant and beautifully balanced suggesting this wine has plenty to give over the next decade, and potentially two. Vinous 96 2023-07-10
2022 Domaine du Pegau Cuvee Reserve Blanc Chateauneuf-du-Pape The 2022 Châteauneuf-du-Pape Blanc Cuvée Réservée is showing nicely, revealing spring flower, pear, white peach and melon aromas. 2021 Domaine du Pegau Cuvee Reserve Blanc Chateauneuf-du-Pape Delicate aromas of honeysuckle, lemon peel, white peach, pineapple, melon and a pinch of saffron introduce Pegau's 2021 Châteauneuf-du-Pape Blanc Cuvée Réservée. This is a blend of 60% Clairette, 20% Grenache Blanc and the rest equally split between Roussanne and Bourboulenc. This is a medium to full-bodied, elegant white with moderate levels of fresh acidity and a bright finish. Vinous 92 2023-07-05
2021 Domaine du Pegau Cuvee Reserve Rouge Chateauneuf-du-Pape The 2021 Châteauneuf-du-Pape Cuvée Réservée is slightly reductive. After some time in the glass, it unveils predominantly red fruit aromatics, dried herbs and a dash of white pepper. Not as powerful as either the 2020 or 2019, but packed with ample finesse and beautifully layered. It is a full-bodied, neatly structured offering with a bright finish. Vinous 94 2023-07-05
2018 Domaine du Pegau Chateauneuf-du-Pape ‘Cuvee Laurence’ The 2018 Châteauneuf-du-Pape Cuvée Laurence is opulent and sensual, bursting with pungent aromas of raspberry jam, ripe blackberry and black cherry, garrigue, white pepper and crushed rocks. Essentially, this is the same wine as the Cuvée Réservée, but instead of maturing it for two years, Laurence Féraud keeps it locked away for four, leading to more concentration, slightly elevated alcohol and a firmer tannic structure. It concludes with a long-lasting finish. Vinous 96 2023-07-05
2018 Domaine du Pegau Cuvee Reserve Rouge Chateauneuf-du-Pape Aromas of dried rose petals, red and black cherry, exotic spices, iodine, leather and forest floor introduce Pegau's 2018 Châteauneuf-du-Pape Cuvée Réservée. It is a pale ruby-colored, full-bodied red which saw two years aging in foudre. Pegau fans will be thrilled to recognize their signature distinctive herbal funkiness. The 2018 doesn’t reach the same heights as either the 2020 or 2019, but it is still a solid effort. Vinous 95 2023-07-05
2019 Domaine du Pegau Cuvee Reserve Rouge Chateauneuf-du-Pape Pungent aromas of crème de cassis, strawberry jam, ripe black cherry, garrigue, white pepper and crushed rocks usher in the 2019 Châteauneuf-du-Pape Cuvée Réservée. Full-bodied, broad-shouldered, concentrated and layered, it is framed by a firm tannic structure and high levels of fresh acidity, keeping everything in check. The complex finish goes on for well over a minute. Vinous 96 2023-07-05
2020 Domaine du Pegau Cuvee Reserve Rouge Chateauneuf-du-Pape The 2020 Châteauneuf-du-Pape Cuvée Réservée is one of the strongest vintages for this wine in recent history. It is magnificent, soaring from the glass with pungent aromas of crème de cassis, ripe raspberry and strawberry, cured meat, tobacco, licorice, iodine and garrigue. Full-bodied, vibrant to the core and offering a multidimensional profile, this wine is really, really good. The Féraud family and the entire team deserve a round of applause for this sublime Cuvée Réservée, which will still be kicking ass 20 years from now. #49 on the Vinous Top 100 Wines of 2024 Vinous 96 2023-07-05
2020 Nekeas Garnacha 'El Chaparral de Vega Sindoa' Dark ruby in the glass, this wine offers aromas of raspberry, cassis and black-olive tapenade. Black and red fruit takes hold of the palate at first sip, joined shortly by dark chocolate, dried Mediterranean herb and eucalyptus flavors. As fruit flavors peel away, velvety tannins coat the palate and linger there. Best Buy. Wine Enthusiast 90 2023-06-27
