2018 Jean-Marc Burgaud Morgon Les Charmes This smoky, ripe wine offers some firm tannins as well as plenty of rich fruit. It has a juicy character, tannins balancing the bold fruits and final, fresh acidity. Drink this wine from 2021. Wine Enthusiast 92 2020-03-10
2016 Alain Brumont - Chateau Bouscasse Madiran Mainly Tannat with Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon, this wine comes from the home estate of Madiran leader Alain Brumont. The wine balances bold tannins from all three grapes with the power of black fruits, acidity and density. It needs to age and will be ready from 2022. Editors’ Choice. #54 on the Wine Enthusiast Top 100 of 2020 Wine Enthusiast 93 2020-03-10
2018 Santa Barbara Winery Sauvignon Blanc Santa Ynez Valley Toasted apples and rainy cement aromas are kicked up by citrus peel on the nose of this zesty wine. High-toned flavors of lime peel and more gravel-like minerality show on the zippy, refreshing sip. Wine Enthusiast 91 2020-03-10
2018 Le Cadeau Pinot Noir "Red Label" Easily identified by its red label, this is a terrific introduction to the new vintage, and it bodes well for the reserves to follow. Ripe, robust and packed with fruit flavors of strawberry and cherry, this barrel selection of estate-grown fruit is highlighted with barrel flavors of toasted coffee beans. The tannins are balanced and finish with a lightly bitter note. Editors’ Choice. Wine Enthusiast 92 2020-03-10
2017 Le Cadeau Merci Reserve Pinot Noir Though lighter than the outstanding 2016, this is a good effort in a more difficult vintage. A mix of heirloom clones from a south-facing block at the estate, this blends herbs, earth, wild berries and a hint of mint in a compact but nicely structured wine with aging potential over the next half decade. Wine Enthusiast 92 2020-03-10
2017 Le Cadeau Trajet Reserve Pinot Noir This reserve was entirely whole cluster-fermented with native yeast. A firm, muscular wine, its black fruits are set sharply against ample acidity. There’s a slight aroma and flavor of tanned leather. It was aged in a twoton (presumably neutral) oak tank. Wine Enthusiast 90 2020-03-10
2017 Domaine Alain Voge Cornas Les Vielles Vignes Ripe and compact, with a coiled-up core of blackberry and bitter cherry fruit that should unwind fully with time. Racy iron, savory and plum pit notes on the finish add cut and length. Lovely purity. Best from 2022 through 2038 Wine Spectator 94 2020-02-27
2017 Pietro Caciorgna Ciauria Etna Rosso Ripe strawberry and rhubarb aromas with some rock follow through to a full body with firm, round and silky tannins that finish long and bright. Drink or hold. James Suckling 94 2020-02-27
2018 Jean-Marc Burgaud Beaujolais Les Vignes de Lantignie Some quite intense notes of ripe dark cherries and tar make a deep impression. The palate is supple with nicely crafted roundness and plenty of fresh, red and purple berries. Drink now. James Suckling 90 2020-02-25
2018 Ramirez de la Piscina Blanco A bright and straight-up white Rioja that suggests lemons, lime cordial and green apples. Light-to medium-bodied with fresh acidity and a fine finish. A blend of viura, chardonnay and malvasia. From organically grown grapes. James Suckling 90 2020-02-19
