2015 Andrea Oberto Barolo DOCG Pliant, supple and wonderfully inviting, Andrea Oberto's Barolo is a terrific introduction to the year. Succulent red cherry, plum, mocha, spice and dried flowers are all laced together in this racy, silky Barolo. The 2015 will drink beautifully right out of the gate. 2016 Boutinot La Cote Sauvage Cotes du Rhone Villages Cairanne The 2016 Cairanne La Côte Sauvage offers lots of cedar and spice notes, as well as solid blackberry and cherry fruit, medium body, ripe tannin, and terrific balance. Powerful, smoke- and spice-accented red and dark berry preserve, vanilla and lavender pastille scents show wonderful clarity, picking up notes of oak spices and cola with air. Sweet and expansive on the palate, offering concentrated but lively black raspberry, cherry cola and spicecake flavors that show excellent delineation and a touch of smoky minerality.
