Aged 19 months in 52% new French oak, it’s a fresh, nicely focused, medium to full-bodied effort that has classic crème de cassis fruit as well as notes of lead pencil, violets, subtle oak, and a gravelly, earthy minerality. 2016	Pursued by Bear	Syrah Baby Bear	The 2016 Syrah Baby Bear checks in as 100% Syrah that was destemmed and brought up in two-thirds new French oak. It has a classic Syrah nose of black raspberries, leafy herbs, spring flowers, and peppered game. It offers soft layers of spice and dark fruit with mild structure and lots of dense fiber to compensate (thanks to 18 months in oak). This wine comes from a difficult vintage that was slowed down by abundant rain and cooler than normal temperatures. As a result, the finish is slightly shorter and more compact.
