Saint-Peray Fleur de Crussol |
Green-tinged straw-gold. A highly complex bouquet evokes ripe citrus and pit fruits, along with suggestions of chamomile, jasmine and smoky minerals. Juicy, penetrating and chewy on the palate, offering intense, mineral-laced tangerine, pear nectar and honeysuckle flavors that deepen and spread out through the mid-palate. The mineral and floral notes drive a strikingly long, incisive finish that leaves a suave floral note behind. |

Domaine Vigneau-Chevreau |
Vouvray Sec 'Cuvee Silex' |
A brilliant value Chenin that delivers the moreish combination of steely acidity with sweet peaches and pear creaminess. There is a touch of residual sugar in this - no more than 9g/l - but it is only discernible through the weight of fruit, never through sweetness. The vines are all aged between 30 and 40 years old, from a certified organic vineyard (farmed biodynamically). Drunk over a family lunch with heaped plates of langoustines and prawns, topped of with baguette and salty butter. Heaven, from an estate that I don't know well but was made hugely happy by. Coteaux d'Aix en Provence Rose |
A blend of 40% Grenache, 25% Cinsault, 20% Syrah and 15% Cabernet Sauvignon, Bargemone's 2019 Coteaux d'Aix en Provence Rose boasts an attractively lifted, herbal note on the nose, plus hints of strawberries, cucumbers, melon and peppery spice. It's light to medium-bodied but with a pleasant, silky texture and plenty of length. |

Jean-Marc Burgaud |
Beaujolais 'Les Vignes de Lantignie' |
Offering up pretty aromas of blackberries, peonies and subtle forest floor, the 2019 Beaujolais-Villages Les Vignes de Lantignié is medium to full-bodied, velvety and enveloping, with lively acids, velvety tannins and a long, mouthwatering finish. As usual, this saw a short six- or seven-day maceration with whole clusters, followed by élevage in cement tank. Once again, Burgaud has produced a characterful and viscerally drinkable Beaujolais-Villages that exemplifies all the merits—as well as the incredible value—offered by the appellation at its best. |

Morgon Cote du Py |
The 2019 Morgon Côte du Py has turned out beautifully, delivering an inviting nose of smoky black cherries, cassis and licorice. Medium to full-bodied, bright and lively, it's deep and concentrated, with a fleshy core of fruit underpinned by tangy acids. This is another of Burgaud's real successes this year. |

Regnie Vallieres |
From 50-year-old vines growing in stony, sandy soils, the 2019 Régnié Vallières bursts with aromas of cherries, raspberries and blackberries, complemented by subtle hints of potpourri and smoked meats. Medium to full-bodied, fleshy and enveloping, it's velvety and succulent, with an ample core of beautifully pure fruit that's girdled by melting tannins and lively acids. This has turned out especially well this year. |

Morgon Cote du Py 'Javernieres' |
Burgaud's 2018 Morgon Côte du Py Javernières is showing beautifully, unfurling in the glass with a deep-pitched but youthfully reserved bouquet that mingles hints of cassis and plum with notions of baking chocolate, grilled meats, cracked pepper and violets. Medium to full-bodied, rich but lively, it's built around powdery and abundant structuring tannins and succulent acids, revealing terrific depth at the core and concluding with a long, elegantly sapid finish. This should be quite spectacular with a few years of bottle age. |

This is very tight and structured. Full-bodied, layered and juicy with beautiful fruit and intensity. Dark berries and walnuts. Hints of stones and wet earth. Only 10 barrels made and always from top site near the town of La Consulta. Malbec with a hint of petit verdot and cabernet franc. |
