2017 Domaine du Pegau Chateauneuf-du-Pape 'Cuvee Reserve' Pegau's distinctive violet and garrigue aromas are on full display in the 2017 Châteauneuf du Pape Cuvée Réservée, backed by plummy fruit and velvety tannins. It's medium to full-bodied, concentrated and rich, with ample length and hints of mocha and licorice on the finish. Not as sexy out of the gate as some vintages, I'd give it another year or two in the cellar, then drink it over the next decade or so. Wine Advocate 95 2020-09-25
2019 Domaine du Pegau Chateauneuf-du-Pape Blanc ‘Cuvee Reserve’ Pegau's 2019 Châteauneuf du Pape Blanc Cuvée Réservée is almost Burgundian in character, the way it balances upfront generosity with mouthwatering length. The flavors are different, offering hints of crushed stone, underripe pineapple, white peach and dried spices, then this medium to full-bodied wine adds vaguely chalky textural elements on the long finish. Silky and streamlined, it does a wonderful job of preserving freshness throughout. Wine Advocate 95 2020-09-25
2018 Domaine du Pegau Chateauneuf-du-Pape Blanc ‘Cuvee Reserve’ A blend of 60% Clairette, 20% Grenache Blanc and 10% each Bourboulenc and Roussanne, the 2018 Châteauneuf du Pape Blanc Cuvée Réservée is in a wonderful drinking window right now, blending honeyed-peach richness with citrusy freshness. Medium to full-bodied, it's round upfront, but gradually narrows to gain focus and length on the finish, adding elegant hints of fennel along the way. Wine Advocate 93 2020-09-25
2015 Ramirez de la Piscina Reserva Sweet plum, cigar tobacco and Spanish cedar on the nose. Medium-bodied with fine tannins and a polished, caressing finish. Attractive chocolate and walnut flavors, too. Drink now. James Suckling 92 2020-09-23
2018 Rocca di Castagnoli Chianti Classico The 2018 Chianti Classico Rocca di Castagnoli is a gorgeous, translucent wine that hits so many buttons. Veins of bright salinity confer energy to a Chianti Classico endowed with notable energy and class to a core of red berry fruit. The 2018 emerges from a collection of parcels at 380-500 meters above sea level. It is a superb wine and an even better value. Vinous 92 2020-09-18
2016 Rocca di Castagnoli Chianti Classico Riserva 'Poggio a' Frati' The 2016 Chianti Classico Riserva Poggio a'Frati is dense, rich and enveloping. Dark cherry, plum, mocha, licorice and spice build in a sumptuous, vibrant Riserva that hits all the right notes. The 2016 offers a captivating mélange of fruit richness, energy and intensity. The high altitude Poggio a'Frati vineyard did exceptionally well in 2016. This is such a gorgeous wine. Vinous 94 2020-09-18

2015 Paritua Red Blend '21.12' 2015 This is a big-boned, plush Bordeaux-style blend housed in a disappointingly heavy bottle. What’s inside, however, is classic Hawkes Bay, complete with aromas of brambly berries, graphite, dried herbs, black olives and crushed violets. There’s a glossy, cola-oak sheen as a backdrop. The palate is a well of velvety fruit and granular, herb-flecked tannins. There’s a touch of alcohol heat and toasty oak, but overall this is a sturdily structured wine meant for the long haul. Drink through 2035. Cellar Selection. Wine Enthusiast 93 2020-09-15
2016 Stone Paddock Red Blend 'Scarlet' This Hawkes Bay Bordeaux-style blend, dominated by Merlot and Cabernet Franc, opens energetically. Lively ripe berries spill from the glass, backed by sappy, savory nuances: olives, tree sap and scrubby herbs. The oak is neatly tucked away. There’s muscle to the palate but a lovely lift of acidity that adds purity to the tangy red currant fruit. Taut, textural tannins add layer in a wine that is straightforward yet harmonious. Drink now with charcuterie or until 2028. Editors’ Choice. Wine Enthusiast 92 2020-09-15
2017 Alain Brumont - Bouscasse Madiran From the home estate of Madiran’s guru Alain Brumont, the wine is a rich blend of Tannat, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. Still so young but with great potential, it is a ripe, black fruit and spice flavored wine, a fine summation of greatness in Madiran. The tannins are still dense and the wine needs plenty of time. Drink from 2024. Cellar Selection Wine Enthusiast 94 2020-09-15
