2018 Alain Brumont - Bouscasse Madiran A magnificent wine Alain Brumont that is still young. It is deep in dark Tannat flavors and a dense structure, the wine powerful with its black fruits and texture. Smoky, ripe, the wine’s wood aging is set to smooth and give depth as it matures. Drink from 2026. Editors’ Choice. Wine Enthusiast 95 2022-08-08
2018 Alain Brumont - Montus Madiran Known as the showcase estate of Madiran, Alain Brumont always produces impressive wines. This latest release is in the same mold. It is rich in tannins with dark black fruits and a massive structure that needs time. Drink this fine wine from 2025. Wine Enthusiast 94 2022-08-08
2018 Donati Cabernet Sauvignon 'Ezio' Paicines Pleasant aromas of red cherry and oak are familiar on the nose of this bottling. The palate picks up hints of licorice and darker berry, with a firm structure and engaging acidity rounding out the experience. Wine Enthusiast 90 2022-08-08
2020 Rocca di Castagnoli Chianti Classico The 2020 Chianti Classico is dark, fleshy and totally seductive. Ripe red cherry, plum, mocha, rose petal, leather and spice flesh out effortlessly. A wine of substance and real depth, the 2020 is truly exquisite. All the elements are so well-balanced. Vinous 92 2022-07-28
2018 Rocca di Castagnoli Chianti Classico Riserva 'Poggio a' Frati' The 2018 Chianti Classico Riserva Poggio a’ Frati is an attractive, mid-weight wine for the estate. Crushed flowers, tobacco, mint, cinnamon and sweet dried cherry give this perfumed, mid-weight Riserva a good bit of complexity. The 2018 is perhaps a bit diffuse, but it offers plenty of character as well as immediacy. Vinous 93 2022-07-28
2017 Rocca di Castagnoli Buriano Cabernet Sauvignon IGT Toscana The 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon Buriano is such a distinctive wine. It is also very young, so a few years of cellaring is advisable. Inky dark red/blue fruit, lavender, spice, mocha, incense and licorice add nuance to this decidedly plush, textured Cabernet. Vinous 95 2022-07-28
2018 Dunham Cabernet Sauvignon 'XXIV' Columbia Valley I loved the nose on the 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon XXIV, and it's pure and vibrant, with pretty cassis fruits as well as floral, spicy, sappy herb nuances. These all carry to a medium to full-bodied Cabernet with terrific balance, ripe yet building tannins, and a great finish. It's beautifully done and should have 10-15 years of bottle age. This is 95% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Merlot, all aged 20 months in 41% new French oak, 7% in new American oak, and the rest in neutral barrels. Jeb Dunnuck 92 2022-07-28
2018 Pursued by Bear Cabernet Sauvignon Columbia Valley The 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Twin Bear (97% Cabernet Sauvignon and 3% Merlot) has a smoky, mulled red and black fruit, and cedar, and dried tobacco-driven bouquet. This carries to a medium to full-bodied, nicely textured, balanced Cabernet with ripe tannins, a layered, seamless mouthfeel, and a great finish. It builds nicely with time in the glass and is going to benefit from 3-4 years in the cellar. I suspect it will have two decades of longevity. Jeb Dunnuck 92+ 2022-07-28
2018 Pursued by Bear Syrah 'Baby Bear' Columbia Valley Ripe black fruits, smoked herbs, graphite, and spicy, peppery herb and floral notes emerge from the 2018 Syrah Baby Bear, a medium-bodied, elegant, incredibly pretty, balanced Syrah that can be drunk today or cellared for 8-10 years. This estate continues to play at a very high level, and this is another terrific wine. Jeb Dunnuck 91+ 2022-07-28
2018 Marziano Abbona Barolo Aromas of plum and cedar with some cherry oak. Medium to full body, chewy tannins and a juicy finish. Nice depth of fruit for the vintage. Drink after 2024 and onwards. James Suckling 93 2022-07-25
