2021	Domaine Cabirau	Maury Sec 'Serge & Marie'	Always a brilliant value as well as a terrific wine, the 2021 Maury Sec Serge & Marie is based largely on Grenache yet includes one-third Carignan. Black cherries, darker raspberries, dried violets, loamy earth, pepper, and sandalwood all emerge on the nose, and it hits the palate with medium to full-bodied richness, a seamless, elegant mouthfeel, soft tannins, and a great finish. This cuvée always shows the perfumed, riper style of Maury yet never comes across as heavy or cumbersome, and if anything, this 2021 could easily be mistaken for a beautiful Pinot Noir. 2021	Domaine D'Ansignan	Petites Grappes	From an estate purchased by Jeff Carrel in 2016, the 2021 Côtes du Roussillon Les Petites Grappes is equal parts Grenache and Carignan from pure granite soils. Beautiful, almost Northern Rhône-like notes of ripe red and black fruits, smoked meats, graphite, and pepper, as well as a beautiful minerality, define the aromatics, and it's fresh, focused, and elegant, with beautifully integrated acidity. 2022	Domaine D'Ansignan	Petites Grappes	Scheduled to be bottled in June, the 2022 Côtes du Roussillon Les Petites Grappes is the same blend of equal parts Grenache and Carignan. Very different from the 2021, it has more red and black fruit as well as peppery herbs and violets. Rich, full-bodied, and opulent, it stays fresh and lively but is clearly a bigger, richer wine. 2022	Domaine D'Ansignan	Les Grenadines	The 2022 Les Grenadines (42% Grenache, 31% Syrah, 16% Carignan, and a splash of Maccabeu) is light ruby-hued, with an almost rosé feel in its pretty strawberry, peppery herb, and violet notes in a medium-bodied, clean, fresh, and lively style on the palate. 2021	Domaine Ellevin	1er Cru Vaucopin	The 2021 Chablis 1er Cru Vaucoupin is terrific, with impressive honeyed apple, leafy herbs, mineral, and white peach-driven aromatics. 2022	Domaine Durand	Menetou Salon	The 2022 Menetou Salon Blanc is slightly more reticent, with white flowers, stone fruits, orange blossom, and chalky minerality in its medium-bodied, nicely balanced, textured, layered style. 2022	Domaine Durand	Sancerre	Salted citrus, crushed stone, pear, and white flower notes all emerge from the 2022 Sancerre Blanc, a very clean, medium-bodied, crisp, racy white that has bright acidity while staying balanced and textured. 2022	Villa des Anges	Pays d'Oc Cabernet Sauvignon	Already bottled, the 2022 Cabernet Sauvignon brings considerably more richness and ripeness, with ripe black cherry and cassis fruits as well as spice, tobacco, and dried herb notes.
