Poggi ai Frati Riserva Chianti Classico |
Aromas of violet, tobacco and a whiff of fresh sage lead the nose on this savory wine. The juicy chewy palate offers ripe black cherry, clove and star anise while fine-grained tannins provide support. Drink through 2023. |

Buriano Cabernet Sauvignon |
The 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon Buriano is a promising wine, especially if the tannins soften. There is terrific purity to the fruit, and hints of game, smoke, licorice and pepper add layers of dimension. |

Stielle 2013 Chainti |
Succulent red cherry fruit and expressive floral notes meld together in the 2013 Stielle, Rocca di Castagnoli's top Sangiovese. The flavors are deep and vibrant. This is in an especially supple style for the year, but it all works quite nicely. |

Reisling |
Apples, wet stone and a little honey lead into a refreshing palate, with plenty of acidity and a hint of richness to tip the scales into balance. A pleasing apple finish makes you want to keep going back for more. |

Shiraz Clos Otto |
Powerful in nature, this wine is full of raspberry, red cherry, earth and floral notes, with some charred wood in the background. There’s some heat on the palate alongside overt oak and chewy tannins, but the acidity is there, as is the fruit. This just needs time in the cellar. Drink 2020–2037. |

The Beauty |
Still a baby and therefore rather shy in the glass, a few good swirls eek out aromas of cherry cola, sweet spice and dusty oak. The tannins are big but integrated, with vibrant acidity and herbal, medicinal flavors. This is a rich, powerful style, but give it time and watch it shine. Drink 2019–2032. |

The Beast |
As the name suggests, this wine is indeed big and powerful, but it’s elegant and classy too. Heady notes of violets, red berries, smoked meat, white pepper and licorice are entwined with tightly wound, fine-grained tannins. One for the cellar. Drink 2019–2032. |

Pinot Noir Brut |
Full bodied and rich with red fruits and crisp acidity, this wine, made from 100% Pinot Noir, shows a ripe character and a firm texture. Its bright fruit and tight texture suggest a few more months aging would do it no harm. So, although it is ready drink to now, drink from 2018. |

Ritual Heritage Blend |
A blend of 30% Grenache, 28% Mourvèdre, 18% Carignan,15% Syrah, and 9% Petite, the 2015 Ritual Heritage Blend comes from some seriously old vines and spent 20 months mostly in neutral oak. It’s awesome Rhône blend from California that gives up loads of darker berry fruits, ground pepper, lavender, incense and hints of cured meats. Deep, medium to full-bodied, elegant, and seamless, with fine-grained tannin, it’s a beauty that Rhône lovers shouldn’t miss. It has enough tannin to keep for 10-15 years. |
