2018 Pursued by Bear Cabernet Sauvignon Columbia Valley The 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Twin Bear (97% Cabernet Sauvignon and 3% Merlot) has a smoky, mulled red and black fruit, and cedar, and dried tobacco-driven bouquet. This carries to a medium to full-bodied, nicely textured, balanced Cabernet with ripe tannins, a layered, seamless mouthfeel, and a great finish. It builds nicely with time in the glass and is going to benefit from 3-4 years in the cellar. I suspect it will have two decades of longevity. Jeb Dunnuck 92+ 2022-07-28
2018 Pursued by Bear Syrah 'Baby Bear' Columbia Valley Ripe black fruits, smoked herbs, graphite, and spicy, peppery herb and floral notes emerge from the 2018 Syrah Baby Bear, a medium-bodied, elegant, incredibly pretty, balanced Syrah that can be drunk today or cellared for 8-10 years. This estate continues to play at a very high level, and this is another terrific wine. Jeb Dunnuck 91+ 2022-07-28
2018 Tezza Valpolicella Ripasso Valpantena Superiore A genuine, maturing wine, with bramble fruit, earthy notes, with some slight farmyard accents. A full, dry tannin, grippy finish. Silver Medal Decanter 91 2022-07-25
2016 Tezza Amarone della Valpolicella Valpantena A well-integrated wine with lovely notes of dried fruits and spices. Classic in style, it shows a lovely savouriness backed up by a soft, sweet fruity character. Well-proportioned and lively, the wine offers a juicy and savoury finish with great use of oak. 2020 Traslapiedra Tinto 'Vino de Desierto Marino' Paraje Altamira The 2020 Vino Tinto Traslapiedra is a blend of 80% Malbec and the rest Cabernet Sauvignon from Paraje Altamira, Uco Valley. Purple in color, the mildly expressive nose offers violet and blackcurrant with hints of blackberry, but the blend takes on added depth in the mouth with chalk and slightly reactive tannins that ride along with the mild but juicy acidity. 2018 Bhilar Garnacha 'Phinca El Vedao' I found strong aromas of spices and herbs in the 2018 Phinca El Vedao, which comes from two plots in the El Vedao paraje in the village of Elvillar where there's a lot of Garnacha. It's 14.5% alcohol but has kept quite high acidity, close to seven grams. It's medium-bodied, fine-grained and tightly coiled, with a chalky sensation. It fermented with some 40% full clusters in concrete with indigenous yeasts and matured in 400- and 500-liter oak barrels for one year. 2,400 bottles produced. It's fresher than the 2016 I tasted last time. Wine Advocate 93 2022-07-18
2017 Bhilar Phinca Abejera' I tasted two vintages of many wines—a good way to compare the years—often 2017 and 2018. The 2017 Phinca Abejera has a more austere nose than the 2018; it's a blend of 55% Tempranillo, 40% Graciano and 5% Viura, with a lower percentage of white grapes than the 2018 and similar high ripeness at 15% but with a different point of balance, as the ripening was different, faster here, like this is riper and the tannins are a bit rougher. It does have the overall balsamic, vermouth-like character of many wines here. Wine Advocate 93 2022-07-18
