Barolo |
Oberto's 2013 Barolo possesses mid-weight structure, bright acidity and good overall depth. Crushed flowers, sweet red cherries, mint and white pepper are nicely delineated throughout. My sense is that the 2013 is still recovering from its mid-August bottling. Even so, it is very nicely done. Time in the glass helps the wine fill out a bit while the fruit gains depth and the tannins, acidity and overall structure become more vivid. The 2013 is an attractive, forward to drink over the next handful of years, not to mention a terrific entry-level bottling. -- Antonio Galloni |

Barolo Albarella |
The 2013 Barolo Albarella is striking. Freshly cut flowers, rose petals, violets, mint and hard candy give the 2013 its chiseled, vibrant personality. Tasted from cask prior to bottling, the 2013 is shaping up to be a jewel of a wine. I am especially struck by the wine's pure energy. The Albarella displays a slightly darker fruit profile and more nervous tannins than the Rocche. Both are shaping up to be jewels. -- Antonio Galloni |

Barolo Rocche dell'Annunziata |
The 2013 Barolo Rocche dell'Annunziata is creamy, layered and seductive. Next to the Albarella, the Rocche has greater mid-palate depth and more polished tannins. All the elements are fused together in an effortless, racy Barolo long on class. A host of rose petal, sweet red cherry, mint, lavender and sweet spice infuse the seductive finish. This very pretty Barolo captures the singular personality of the Rocche vineyard in La Morra's Annunziata district. There is plenty to look forward to. -- Antonio Galloni |

Aldonia |
Aldonia 2015 |
82% Garnacha, 15% Tempranillo, 3% Graciano matured for 12 months in oak barrels. Paler than the Vendimia 2015 and the nose is subtler. Less bumptious and a bit more reticent at this stage but with an attractive stoniness on the finish. Good balance and a real future. 16.5/20 Drink 2018–2023 |

100% 100-year-old Garnacha grown at 850 m in Rioja Baja, aged for 14 months in oak barrels. Light and sophisticated. Really lovely texture and lift. Soars off the palate with fine acidity but masses of fruit. A very gentle hand on the tiller in the winery. This should have a real future but is already a delight. GV 17/20 Drink 2017–2025 |

Rudolfo Logsdon Ridge Vineyard Pinot Gris |
This young gris leads with the sourdough tang of lees in front of a faint spritz of citrus. It's quite lean, with a texture that's steely and mineral, and thrilling, nervy tension that should relax with a few months in bottle. |

Blanc de Blancs Brut |
Disgorged in 2016, the NV Brut Blanc de Blancs Réserve comes from four separate vineyards and spent 36 months on lees. It was finished with 6-8 grams per liter of dosage. It’s a rich, impressively textured Champagne that gives up classic orchard fruits, toasted nuts, and brioche. Made in a ripe, rounded, supple style, with a mouthfilling texture, it’s a rock-solid base Champagne that has plenty of fruit and texture. |

Blanc de Noirs Brut |
The NV Brut Blanc de Noirs is slightly less expressive, with notes of apple peal and citrus in its elegant, balanced, pure profile. It has a dense mid-palate, plenty of heft and a rich, layered style. It lacks a touch of the layers found in the Brut Blanc de Blancs Réserve, but is beautiful nonetheless. This cuvee is 100% Pinot Noir, from five vineyards, and spent 30 months on lees. It was finished with 8-10 grams per liter of dosage. |
