2011 Rocca di Castagnoli Stielle Chianti Classico Gran Selezione The 2011 Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Stielle is superb. Rich, ample and expressive in the glass, the 2011 offers striking textural breadth and richness, yet never comes across as heavy or overdone. Dark red cherry, plum, spice, tobacco, menthol and licorice meld into the super-expressive, generous finish. The 2011 can be enjoyed now or cellared for up to a decade-plus. This is a tremendous showing. Vinous 94 2018-03-06
2017 Barker's Marque Three Brooms Sauvignon Blanc Blind River Grapefruit, peach and lime zest notes mingle with details of lemongrass, mineral and fresh-ground ginger, showing good intensity and a supple, juicy body. Drink now. Wine Spectator 90 2018-03-01
2015 Maso Cantanghel Pinot Grigio Light yellow gold. Also done in a ripe style, this Pinot Grigio bears no resemblance to the supermarket wines made in much of the Veneto. This one has good viscosity, a full mouthfeel, and moderate acidity that complements and balances the rich fruit. Gorgeous drinking. The Maso Papa vineyard is 1.5 acres at 950 feet altitude and is traditionally Pergola trained. About 20 percent fermented in barrique. I-Wine Review 90 2018-02-28
2014 Maso Cantanghel Sauvignon Blanc Yellow straw. Mineral-accented aromas of lemon curd with a touch of turmeric. Reveals an exciting palate, unexpected for the variety, of intense ripe, rich lemon with a light marzipan notes and vibrant acidity that ensures a super fresh finish. Pair this wine as you would a Grand Cru Chablis. I-Wine Review 91 2018-02-28
2012 Maso Cantanghel Pinot Nero Spicy, somewhat honeyed nose showing notes of red cherry. The Pinot Nero has a lush texture with pomegranate and red cherry notes. 2015 Domaine Nathalie & Gilles Fèvre FourChaume 1er Cru Chablis 2015 Generous in its sweet ripeness, this wine takes the vintage to a sophisticated integration of firm, juicy pear flavors, cider apple and lees, all powered by high-toned alcohol. It may not be a wine to cellar, but it holds true to its Chablis roots and will offer a lot of pleasure over the coming year with grilled langoustines or other rich shellfish. 2015 Lumos Wine Co Five Blocks Willamette Valley Pinot Noir Moderate garnet color in the glass. Love this nose! Aromas of dark cherry, warm spices, toast and rose petal. Forward drinking and welcoming, with mid weight flavors of black cherry, ollaliberry, spice and the right touch of oak. Silky and seamless, with fine-grain tannins and an agreeable finish. Consistently one of Oregon’s best values in Pinot Noir. Prince of Pinot 91 2018-02-27
2015 Lumos Wine Co Temperance Hill Pinot Noir Moderately dark garnet color in the glass. Aromas of blackberry, herbs and seasoned oak echo on the nose. Very charming, with a nicely spiced mid weight blackberry fruit core. The tannic backbone is substantial but not at the forefront. The subtle oak treatment delights. What sets this wine apart is the remarkably persistent finish. Like Tom Brady, it’s all about the finish. Prince of Pinot 95 2018-02-27
2014 Andrea Oberto Barolo Albarella The 2014 Barolo Albarella is fabulous. Succulent black cherry, lavender, graphite, spice, new leather and menthol all flesh out in the glass. Ample, creamy and voluptuous, with plenty of supporting tannin, the dark, brooding 2014 shows off the more potent side of the year while somehow managing to be both deep and wonderfully translucent. This is a tremendous Barolo from Andrea Oberto that needs time to fully come together and assimilate its oak. Vinous 93+ 2018-02-22
2014 Andrea Oberto Barolo Rocche dell'Annunziata Things get even better with the 2014 Barolo Rocche dell'Annunziata. Sweet floral aromatics, spice, sweet red cherry and kirsch infuse this silky, racy Barolo from Andrea Oberto. Bright, precise and nuanced to the core, the 2014 is absolutely gorgeous today. The long, persistent finish is a thing of beauty. Readers will find a wine that beautifully encapsulates the qualities that make Rocche dell'Annunziata one of the top sites in Barolo.
