2015 Van Zellers Vintage Douro Port This rich wine is a blend of typical Douro grapes, giving firm tannins as well as black fruits. The wine's structure is still center stage, although the fruit is shining brightly with its blackberry flavors. Drink from late 2019. Wine Enthusiast 90 2019-02-12
2017 Agathe Bursin Muscat Bollenberg Lively straw-green. The highly typical Muscat nose offers vibrant, clean lime, orange blossom and sweet spice notes. The flavors of lychee and green apple are clean, fresh and precise too. Finishes long and juicy with a hint of mint. Very expressive, outstanding wine that is mostly Muscat Ottonel (80%) and a little Muscat d’Alsace (20%). Bursin bought this parcel of vines in 2001, and given the high quality of Muscat wine she makes practically every year from these vines, I’d say it was a very smart buy. I could drink this all day long. Vinous 92 2019-02-07
2017 Agathe Bursin Sylvaner Lutzental Pale golden-tinged straw-yellow. Canned pineapple, tangerine and very ripe pear on the sexy, showy nose. Then juicy, penetrating and vibrant, with sweet (11 g/L r.s.) but lively (5.6 g/L total acidity) flavors of tropical fruit and ripe pear. Finishes long, ripe and round. Outstanding Sylvaner from one of the recognized masters of the variety. Vinous 92 2019-02-07
2017 Agathe Bursin Riesling Dirtstelberg Bright straw-yellow. Aromas of peach, orange oil and white pepper. Supple, dense and broad, showing attractive spicy lift to the ripe flavors of soft citrus fruits, apple and pear. Densely packed, displaying nicely persistent soft citrus high tones and a hint of creamy sweetness that is more obvious than the low 4 g/L r.s. implies. Made from 65-year-old vines that are a different massal selection of Riesling than that planted in the Bollenberg. Vinous 91 2019-02-07
2016 Chateau de Penya Lilac Wine Living up to its name, the 2016 Lilac Wine is floral and surprisingly delicate for a wine that tips the scales at 15% alcohol. A blend of Carignan, Grenache and Syrah, it sees only larger-format wood, leaving the purity of its mixed-berry and spice elements unvarnished by oak. It's a terrific bargain that should drink well for several more years. Wine Advocate 91 2019-02-05
2016 Chateau de Penya Lilac Wine The 2016 Rouge from Jeff Carrel checks in as a blend of 45% Carignan, 30% Grenache, and 25% Syrah that was manually harvested and aged in large oak casks. Its deep ruby/purple color is followed by notes of blueberries, blackberries, crushed violets and wet stone. Medium-bodied, supple and juicy, with lively acidity and a great finish, it's an elegant, balanced Roussillon to drink over the coming 4-5 years. Jeb Dunnuck 91 2019-02-05
2013 Nicodemi Montepulciano d’Abruzzo Riserva Neromoro Fully saturated ruby. Musky, slightly high-toned but fresh scents of blackcurrant, blueberry, mocha and vanillin oak. Plush, fine-grained flavors of dark berries, sweet spices and ink display a complicating saline, high-acid character but this clean, seamless wine is still very youthful. Rising harmonious tannins build on the aftertaste, with red and dark fruit nuances lingering nicely. Vinous 91 2019-02-01
2016 Nicodemi Montepulciano d’Abruzzo Notari Full ruby-red. Aromas of dark plum and black cherry are complicated by vanilla, musk and gingerbread. Juicy and high-toned in the mouth, offering densely packed flavors of mocha and underbrush lifted by a floral note. Round and easygoing; I could hardly tell this has 14% alcohol, but I would have liked a little fresher fruit. Perhaps a bit blocked today by its oak component. Try it in 2020, as a little extra cellaring will likely help the development of greater nuance. Made from a blend of three old vineyards planted on essentially clay-limestone soil and aged in new and used 500-liter tonneaux. Vinous 90 2019-02-01

2015 Marziano Abbona Pressenda Barolo DOCG This offers some deeper, darker fruit aromas, as well as cedar and walnuts with an earthy edge and toasted spice.
