2011 Behrens Family Winery Labor of Love Dark red cherries, plums, mint, sweet spices, herbs and juniper berries meld together in the 2011 Red Blend Labor of Love. Espresso, menthol tar and licorice notes add complexity on the layered, expressive finish. The 2011 is 75% Cabernet Franc, 17% Cabernet Sauvignon and 8% Petit Verdot, all from Martinez Vineyard on Pritchard Hill. Vinous 93 2017-07-17
2013 Behrens Family Winery The Change Up Red Blend The 2013 Proprietary Red Blend The Change Up is a slightly lighter style compared to some of the other cuvées, although it’s by no means a wimpy wine. A blend of 75% Cabernet Sauvignon and 25% Syrah, the wine has a dense ruby/purple color, loads of juicy red and black fruits, soft tannin and a luscious finish. It’s right in the wheelhouse of the Behrens style: hedonistic, plump, sexy and best drunk in its next 7-8 years. Wine Advocate 90 2017-07-17
2014 David Arthur Vineyards Elevation 1147 Cabernet Sauvignon The flagship wine, the 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Elevation 1147, is all Cabernet Sauvignon compared to the Old Vine, which is 88% Cabernet Sauvignon and 12% Petit Verdot, and the Three Acre that is mostly Cabernet Sauvignon with 2% Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. This is pedal-to-the-metal, seriously endowed, full-throttle Cabernet Sauvignon from Pritchard Hill. Chocolate, crème de cassis, incense, graphite and earth make for a complex, multidimensional set of aromatics. Full-bodied, round, juicy and, like so many 2014s, already showing complexity and easy appeal. This full-bodied, layered and rich Cabernet Sauvignon should drink well for another 20-25 years, but there is no reason to defer gratification. Wine Advocate 95 2017-07-17
2011 David Arthur Vineyards Three Acre Cabernet Sauvignon (blended with 11% petit verdot): Dark red-ruby. Dark berries, violet, menthol and bitter chocolate on the nose. Suave and pliant in the mouth, with a slightly musky coffee bean character to the dark fruit flavors. Nicely smooth 2011 cabernet with sweet, broad tannins and good length. Winemaker Nile Zacherle bottled the 2011 cabernets a few months early "to preserve intensity." He also did an abbreviated cold soak and a shorter, warmer fermentation. Vinous 90 2017-07-17
2014 David Arthur Vineyards Chardonnay This is marked by rich honeysuckle, honeydew and pear notes that are broad and deep without being weighty. Holds focus and shows a pithy tannic edge that adds traction to the flavors. Drink now. 459 cases made. Wine Spectator 90 2017-07-17
2016 Chateau Toutigeac Bordeaux Blanc The fifth generation of the family to make wine at the estate, Oriane Mazeau has created a delicately spicy wine that is lively and fruity. A floral character gives it a lift, as does crisp acidity. Bright, with plenty of flavorsome fruitiness, the wine is already a pleasure to drink. Chemin Des Vins. Best Buy. —R.V. 2016 Gerard Metz Melody Pinot Gris Fresh notes of ripe red apple and juicy pear rise from the glass and also swish freely across the palate. The body is slender, pervaded by a friendly invigorating zestiness that stays right through the dry finish. Wine Enthusiast 90 2017-07-03
2015 Gerard Metz Vieilles Vignes Gewurztraminer The nose is a subdued but evocative blend of rose petal, peach, lemon and mirabelle. The palate shows a similarly easy interplay of flavors on a concentrated, harmonious and off-dry body. This is fresh and fruity, lively and enticing. Wine Enthusiast 90 2017-07-03
