Carmenere 'Single Vineyard' Colchagua Valley |
A carmenere to put as a textbook example of the variety, this comes from Peralillo, in the center of the Colchagua Valley, and spent a year in barrels, all used oak. It's a soft and juicy wine with good balance, herbal notes, and friendly acidity that underscores the notes of red fruits. |

Lava Cap |
Chardonnay El Dorado |
Fermented and aged 50% in French and Slavonian oak and 50% in stainless steel, with half the wine undergoing malolactic fermentation. The result is a zesty, racy Chardonnay with lovely depth of fruit and layered, silky texture. The oak character is perfectly integrated, adding a subtle honeyed richness that complements rather than overshadows. From nose to finish, it offers aromas and flavours of green apple, white peach, creamy pear, jasmine, and a cool wet river rock character, all carried through to a long, saline-mineral finish. Quite a fashionable white. |

Lava Cap |
Cabernet Sauvignon El Dorado |
This is highly exciting Cabernet offered at a price that won't boost your blood pressure. Made from fruit grown in volcanic soils on hillside sites ranging in elevation from 2,700 to 3,100 feet (reportedly the highest-elevation Cabernet Sauvignon plantings in Northern California), it's packed with pure blackberry accented by a lip-smacking streak of saline minerality. Already quite complex in its youth, it will only improve for another five years. |

Chardonnay El Dorado |
Sourced from six Chardonnay blocks ranging from 2,400 to 2,700 feet in elevation in estate vineyards planted on volcanic soil, this intriguing medium-bodied wine displays pure notes of orchard fruits such as golden apple, fresh acidity, and a nice suggestion of saline minerality that one rarely finds in California Chardonnay. |

Cape Mentelle |
Cabernet Sauvignon 'Marri' |
Aromas of raspberry and black currants sprinkled with dried mint, coca powder and underscored by black olives and graphite float from the glass of this Cab, from one of the region’s long-standing producers. There’s a lightness here that’s welcome amidst the sturdy tannins, which take over the mouth. The fruit squeaks through the cracks but falls off quickly. Best Buy. |
