2023 St. Urbans-Hof Riesling QbA 'Nik Weis Old Vines' Shows balance and deliciousness, with just enough plumpness, plus the subtlest hint of sweetness, held in check by a zip of energy and spine of crushed slate. Pings with lime peel oil, apple and elderflower notes. Juicy and round but never feels heavy. Wine Spectator 90 2025-10-29
2022 Mayr Gruner Veltliner There are Grüner Veltliners that are made to age and then there are bottles like this — delicious liters ready to share. Waxy Meyer lemons and salty house made bistro butter on the nose. The palate is round and juicy with a bright, refreshing acidity. VinePair 90 2025-10-29
2024 Forlong Palomino 'Burbuja' The organic ancestral sparkling white 2024 Burbuja Blanco was produced with Palomino grapes from Balbaína on "lustrillo" albariza soils. The 2024 wines are fine-boned, with more freshness and tension, with a faint bitter twist in the finish. They disgorged it after four months with lees (it used to be eight to 10 months) to keep even more marked freshness. This is very similar to the still white Blanco, but the extended contact with the lees makes it more complex at a faster pace. Wine Advocate 92+ 2025-10-27
2024 Forlong Palomino 'Forlong Blanco' The white 2024 Blanco was produced with Palomino grapes from barajuela soils. It fermented in stainless steel and was bottled unoaked. It has good ripeness and 12.5% alcohol and four grams of acidity. It has not yet developed much aromatic complexity, and in my experience, these wines benefit from at least one year in bottle. This is agile and balanced, with a fluid palate. It was a year with a lot more rain, a mild summer and a late and quiet harvest. We tasted it next to the 2023, which had accumulated drought, and you notice the bitterness and concentration of the year. Wine Advocate 91+ 2025-10-27
2022 Forlong Tinto (Syrah, Tintilla) 'Petit Forlong' The red blend 2022 Le Petit was produced with 90% Syrah and 10% Tintilla de Rota from vines planted in 2016 and 2015, respectively. The Syrah was less ripe, and the varieties fermented together and matured in 2,000-liter clay amphorae for six months, followed by another six months in used French oak barrels. It's ripe and comes in at 14% alcohol and with a pH of 3.55. It displays balsamic notes, hints of green olives, aromatic herbs, quite Mediterranean, a bit leafy. It's medium- to full-bodied, with some slightly dusty tannins. Wine Advocate 90 2025-10-27
2024 Domaine de Fondrèche Blanc AOP Ventoux The 2024 Ventoux Blanc from Domaine de Fondreche, a blend of unknown proportions of Grenache Blanc, Clairette, Roussanne and Rolle, is bright and precise, opening with aromas of citrus blossom, white peach and crushed stones. Medium-bodied and incisive, it’s built around a core of ripe fruit and brisk acids, with a saline, chalky finish that lends tension and length. This is a vibrant, finely crafted white that will drink well young but hold for several years. Wine Advocate 90 2025-10-21
2022 Lava Cap Zinfandel 'Reserve' El Dorado The El Dorado AVA has always been known for high-elevation Zinfandel. The highest peaks are at 2700ft, so the fruit is rich and concentrated but with full flavors that are not saturated. The fruit is ripe in this selection, with bramble raspberry, blackberry, clove, and floral notes on the nose. The flavors on the palate are boysenberry, dark plum, grilled orange zest, chicory, and dusty tannins to finish. Aerate and Drink. Wine Enthusiast 93 2025-10-20
2020 Bhilar Phincas Rioja Blanca 'Thousand Mils' The amber colored 2020 Phincas Thousand Mils was produced with a blend of 65% Viura, 25% Garnacha Blanca, Malvasia Riojana, Palomino and Cayetana, plus 10% experimental varieties. The grapes were foot trodden to start the fermentation, which finished in barrel. It matured in 500-liter French oak barrels for three years. It has the classical skin-contact profile, with yellow fruit, pollen and quince and a slightly tannic palate with a bitter twist in the finish, dense and pungent. 2,388 bottles were filled in October 2023. 2024 Ocean Road Chardonnay At first this wine is tightly wound and young, with some flint and dried herbal reductive notes. These give way, eventually, to more generous lemon and seashell nuances. It’s lightweight, by Chardy standards, with ample fruit flavor and easy drinkability. Best Buy. Wine Enthusiast Best Buy 2025-10-17
2023 Foris Pinot Noir Rogue Valley If you’re a fan of lighter-bodied Pinot Noirs that show restraint in alcohol and no such restraint with acidity, this perky number should be on your “buy lots” list. The wine’s aromas are a perfect combination of fruit and savory, with Bing cherries, black-pepper, leather, and pulled pork flavors holding court. With flavors like cranberries, raspberries, Honeycrisp apples and paprika, you will be pleasantly occupied by trying to sort it all out. You get a lot for your money with this crisp wine.
