2017 Winzerhof Stahl Silvaner Edelstahl Best of A very enticing silvaner with an explosion of citrus and mirabelle on the nose, but only a hint of the mango that comes with overripeness. Considerable concentration and depth, but none of the fat that plagues high-end wines from this grape. The long finish is at once rich and lively. A great food wine, also for rich, spicy dishes. Drink or hold. Screw cap. James Suckling 93 2018-09-24
2017 Quinta de Curvos Vinho Verde Loureiro From one of the top two varieties grown in Vinho Verde (the other is Alvarinho), this wine is fruity, packed with citrus, and with a zesty tight texture. The fruit is ripe while remaining cool and crisp. Drink this wine from late 2018. Wine Enthusiast 90 2018-09-18
2016 Dominio de Eguren Codice Brambly, rich summer-berry and chocolate aromas with an earthy and tarry nose. The palate has a smooth feel with dark and dense, fleshy fruit. Rich and even. Drink now. James Suckling 91 2018-09-18
2014 Dominio de Eguren Codice (fermented and aged for six months in stainless steel tanks, followed by aging in French and American oak barrels for another six months) Lurid ruby. Heady cherry, black raspberry, licorice and floral pastille qualities on the spice-accented nose. Seamless and nicely focused; a firm spine of juicy acidity provides lift and structure to ripe dark berry and spicecake flavors. Finishes with gentle tannic grip and very good length, the berry note lingering nicely. There's outstanding value here. Vinous 90 2018-09-18
2013 Pursued by Bear Baby Bear Syrah Sporting a deep purple/ruby color, the 2013 Reserve is a blend of 82% Cabernet Sauvignon and 18% Merlot. It offers classic dark fruits, (currants, plum), chocolate, roasted herbs and even a touch of meatiness to go with a medium to full-bodied, supple, impressively textured style on the palate. This has real depth and richness (especially in the vintage) and should keep for 15 years or more. Wine Advocate 92 2018-09-12
2013 Pursued by Bear Baby Bear Syrah In this blend of fruit from Lewis and Phinny Hill vineyards, sweet spice, baking spice, vanilla and dark fruit lead to silky dark fruit and barrel flavors. The wood influence is primary but it still brings a lot of appeal. Wine Enthusiast 91 2018-09-12
