Metallico Un-Oaked Chardonnay |
The unoaked character of this wine does push it toward a Sauvignon Blanc style, but it works well in this vintage. Aromas of wet stone, grass, lemon blossom and honeysuckle lead into a chalky palate of lime balm, lanolin, and a hint of sour cream. |

Pinot Noir Berger Schaefferstein |
Aromatic notes of ripe cherry rise from the glass. The palate adds freshness and verve to the cherry notes, bringing out their red-fruited tartness. Fine tannins have the slightest crunch, providing a mouthfeel that is vivid and alive despite the inherent slenderness. |

Sauvignon Blanc |
A classic Sauvignon Blanc at a fair price, this bottling starts with fresh and inviting aromas of apple blossom and red apple on the nose. Crisp and clean on the palate, it's tightly woven structure reveals lemon wedge and sliced Granny Smith apple flavors. |

Vintage Douro Port |
This rich wine is a blend of typical Douro grapes, giving firm tannins as well as black fruits. The wine's structure is still center stage, although the fruit is shining brightly with its blackberry flavors. Drink from late 2019. |

Muscat Bollenberg |
Lively straw-green. The highly typical Muscat nose offers vibrant, clean lime, orange blossom and sweet spice notes. The flavors of lychee and green apple are clean, fresh and precise too. Finishes long and juicy with a hint of mint. Very expressive, outstanding wine that is mostly Muscat Ottonel (80%) and a little Muscat d’Alsace (20%). Bursin bought this parcel of vines in 2001, and given the high quality of Muscat wine she makes practically every year from these vines, I’d say it was a very smart buy. I could drink this all day long. |

Sylvaner Lutzental |
Pale golden-tinged straw-yellow. Canned pineapple, tangerine and very ripe pear on the sexy, showy nose. Then juicy, penetrating and vibrant, with sweet (11 g/L r.s.) but lively (5.6 g/L total acidity) flavors of tropical fruit and ripe pear. Finishes long, ripe and round. Outstanding Sylvaner from one of the recognized masters of the variety. |

Riesling Dirtstelberg |
Bright straw-yellow. Aromas of peach, orange oil and white pepper. Supple, dense and broad, showing attractive spicy lift to the ripe flavors of soft citrus fruits, apple and pear. Densely packed, displaying nicely persistent soft citrus high tones and a hint of creamy sweetness that is more obvious than the low 4 g/L r.s. implies. Made from 65-year-old vines that are a different massal selection of Riesling than that planted in the Bollenberg. |

Chateau de Penya |
Lilac Wine |
Living up to its name, the 2016 Lilac Wine is floral and surprisingly delicate for a wine that tips the scales at 15% alcohol. A blend of Carignan, Grenache and Syrah, it sees only larger-format wood, leaving the purity of its mixed-berry and spice elements unvarnished by oak. It's a terrific bargain that should drink well for several more years. |

Chateau de Penya |
Lilac Wine |
The 2016 Rouge from Jeff Carrel checks in as a blend of 45% Carignan, 30% Grenache, and 25% Syrah that was manually harvested and aged in large oak casks. Its deep ruby/purple color is followed by notes of blueberries, blackberries, crushed violets and wet stone. Medium-bodied, supple and juicy, with lively acidity and a great finish, it's an elegant, balanced Roussillon to drink over the coming 4-5 years. |

Montepulciano d’Abruzzo Riserva Neromoro |
Fully saturated ruby. Musky, slightly high-toned but fresh scents of blackcurrant, blueberry, mocha and vanillin oak. Plush, fine-grained flavors of dark berries, sweet spices and ink display a complicating saline, high-acid character but this clean, seamless wine is still very youthful. Rising harmonious tannins build on the aftertaste, with red and dark fruit nuances lingering nicely. |
