Chateauneuf du Pape
Grenache/Garnacha, Mouvedre, Syrah/Shiraz
Soils composed of fluvial terraces with pebbles mixed with sandy red clay.
Destemming of the harvest, maceration 20 days minimum.
Partial aging in oak barrels for one year.
Last of the 2016s, the 2016 Châteauneuf-du-Pape Vignobles de La Serrière is the same blend as all the cuvées here (80% Grenache and the rest Syrah and Mourvèdre) and comes from a mix of rolled stones and sandstone soils. It’s a rich, powerful wine that has loads of black cherry fruit, lavender, rose petal, and peppery herb aromas and flavors. With ripe tannins, plenty of mid-palate depth, and terrific complexity, it will drink nicely for 10-15 years.
