G17 Syrah |
The 2021 Syrah G 17 is a brooding, intense wine, its mid-weight structure notwithstanding. Dried herbs, menthol, licorice, lavender and blackberry all open in the glass. This is an especially earthy, savory style, with fruit that sits more in the background. Dollops of Mourvèdre and Grenache round out the blend. |

Sauvignon Blanc |
The 2022 Sauvignon Blanc is a little sweaty on the nose, with lemongrass and enoki mushroom, cilantro, layers of apple skins and brine. There's even a hint of kelp. In the mouth, the wine is concentrated and pure, with loads of flavor and structure. Very good. 13% alcohol, sealed under screw cap. |

La Fiorita |
Brunello di Montalcino |
This red falls squarely into the savory camp, with wild herb, Mediterranean scrub and earth aromas and flavors taking precedence over the cherry and red berry fruit. Gruff finish. Best from 2026 through 2043. 1,796 cases made, 218 cases imported. |

Morgon Les Charmes |
The 2022 Morgon Les Charmes has a perfumed, floral nose, later becoming spicier whilst retaining impressive delineation. The palate is medium-bodied with ripe tannins, fine structure with gentle grip. A little more savory style towards the finish with a persistent aftertaste. Excellent. |

Morgon Corcelette |
The 2022 Morgon Corcelette had not been racked since the alcoholic fermentation and was showing a bit of reduction on the nose that made it difficult to read. The palate is medium-bodied with a smooth texture and grainy tannins, almost powdery in texture. There are hints of brown spices and sage and a little more depth perhaps than the Les Charmes on the finish. Great potential. |

Morgon Cote du Py |
The 2022 Morgon Côte du Py has an absolutely delightful bouquet. Much more charming than the Corcelette, it shows exquisite delineation with perfumed, mineral-laced red fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with fine-boned tannins, very focused with a touch of Indian spice toward the detailed finish. This has a long life ahead. It’s so refined and elegant. #97 on the Vinous Top 100 Wines of 2024 |

Morgon Grands Cras |
The 2022 Morgon Grands Cras has slight reduction on the nose. There's ample brambly red berry fruit and light marmalade scents, quite aromatic in style. The palate is medium-bodied with quite strict tannins on the entry and fine depth. Fresh and vibrant with a gentle grip on the finish. I appreciate the build of this Morgon. It shrugs off the warmth of the growing season with ease. |

Morgon Corcelette |
The maiden 2021 Morgon Corcelette comes from vines planted in 1932. It has a perfumed bouquet with dark cherries, iodine and light violet scents - quite pure and seductive. The palate is medium-bodied with saturated tannins, quite citrus-led acidity and a poised, slightly balsamic finish. Very fine, but I am convinced there is a lot better to come from this vineyard courtesy of Burgaud. |

Morgon Les Charmes |
The 2021 Morgon Les Charmes, which comes from vines planted in 1933, has a little more precision than the Grands Cras - more mineralité, even though they were in fact bottled the same day. The palate is medium-bodied with fine-boned tannins, open-knit - a little fleshy with a lovely poise on the finish. Jean-Marc remarked that this vineyard is more difficult to work - but it was worth the effort. |

Morgon Cote du Py 'Javernieres' |
The 2021 Morgon Côte du Py Javernières was bottled after 12 months in used barrels plus four months in tank. This has a beautiful nose of wilted rose petal-infused vivacious red fruit and with time, touches of desiccated orange peel. The medium-bodied palate has ripe tannins, granular in texture, and very fine backbone, yet elegance from start to finish. This is a joyful, effervescent Javernières from one of its best exponents. |
