Sandy soils originated fro the crumbles of marl and sandstone. 100% Sangiovese from 17-year-old vines.
The grapes are from two vineyards totaling around 5 acres/2 hectares; one in Castelluccio and one near a monastery in Modigliana. Sulfur: 30 mg/l added SO2, at the end of the fermentation, a second time in January and at bottling in April.

A tangy expression of Sangiovese, with lots of taut sour fruits, e.g. blood-orange, and pomegranate. Historically, Sangiovese here has been linked to the old Ronchi [hill tops] of Castelluccio: long-aging wines of character that were crystalline and pure.
