Vineyard

Our Pomegranate Mead is made from a blend of alfalfa, orange blossom, sage, and wildflower honey, sourced from beekeepers in Northern California. The honey base is co-fermented with fresh, local pomegranate juice, which makes up 20% of the blend.

Vinification

Mead is an old English word for honey wine. It dates back 8,000 years. The CHAUCER'S Mead story began in 1970 when winery owner, Lawrence Bargetto, produced his first mead. This melomel style pomegranate mead is made from co-fermented pure honey and pomegranates. Our pomegranate mead still reflects the same quality standards as the original batch many decades ago. In the spirit of Geoffrey Chaucer's Canterbury Tales, we hope that you will be inspired by this pomegranate mead as Sir Thopas would have been while meeting his female archer companion.

Tasting Note

Chaucer’s Pomegranate Mead explodes with pomegranate and honeysuckle. This wine is a blend of our Mead and a small portion of Pomegranate Wine. Less sweet than our regular Mead, this wine finishes with a lingering crisp pomegranate and honeysuckle impression. Chaucer’s Pomegranate Mead is 100% gluten-free.
