The Only Official Belgian Abbey Beers Created in an All-Female Monastery and Still Brewed Today. A legacy of faith. And Beer. The sisters of Cistercian order founded their abbey in the Limburg region of Belgium in the 12th century. Soon after, they began brewing beer. Today, Brouwerij Cornelissen brews the beers on behalf of the sisters using recipes passed down for eight centuries.
